Hussein Omar's twin proposals that all Muslim countries should not allow Western or American troops to be stationed on their soils and that they should terminate all security and defence treaties with Western powers are worth serious consideration.

These proposals should be implemented as soon as practicable by all Muslim countries as the first step to restore the honour and dignity of the 'ummah'.

Indeed, the misfortunes and tragedies of the Muslim world in the contemporary age as epitomised by the fall of Baghdad in 2003 would not have occurred if Western military or security forces were not stationed or operating from Muslim countries.

As Hussein pointed out, the fall of the Ottoman Empire in the aftermath of the First World War was due to the unholy alliance between the Saudi Wahabbis and the British secret service. It was chiefly the Saudi Wahhabis who opened the floodgates for Western penetration and the subsequent subjugation of the Muslim heartland in the Middle East.

Again, in the 1990-1991 Gulf War and 2003 Iraq War, Anglo-American military campaigns were staged against Muslims in Iraq from Kuwait with supporting facilities in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, United Arab Emirate and Oman.

The US Central Command, for example, based its operational headquarters in Qatar. Earlier, in 2001, US-led Western troops attacked Muslims in Afghanistan from Muslim Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

So, if the US attacks the Islamic Republic of Iran, we can be pretty certain that Iraq, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan would be used by American forces as major staging grounds with Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates as logistical centres.

Are Muslim countries that gullible and selfish to allow US troops to use their soil to stage attacks on their fellow Muslim countries and cause untold suffering to millions of Muslim children and women?

Why are some Muslims so heartless and dishonourable as to be willingly and repeatedly made use of by the Americans as unthinking henchmen in the massacre of fellow Muslims?

It is time the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) set as its top priority the removal of all Western and American troops from the soil of Muslim countries and the termination of all defence and security treaties between Muslim countries and Western powers.

Otherwise, the OIC is just another 'Islamic' cover for Western neo-colonialism and American neo-imperialism. Ordinary Muslims, including those in Malaysia, must also make the above priorities as part of their political agenda in domestic politics and demand that their governments restore the honour of Islam and dignity of the 'ummah'.
