Despite the bad press surrounding the vaping trend, the government is finding loopholes to stop vaping once and for all but not saying so much about the cigarettes, tobacco and shisha industry. It’s not as bad as it seems to be. It’s a less dangerous alternative to smoking and it also has helped many smokers wean themselves off their dependency on nicotine.
But is it really about the public’s health or is it about big businessmen not getting enough at the end of the month?
Nicotine found in vaping devices is a pharmaceutical variant of nicotine, chemically filtered and diluted. Unlike in cigarettes, the liquid had only three chemicals in it - propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine and nicotine. It doesn’t take a scientist to brew this concoction as you basically do it in your own home.
Many people that I’ve spoken to had mentioned that they don’t even mind if vaping gets taxed just as long they leave the vaping community alone, as how they leave the cigarette smokers alone
Yes, I know the bad press surrounding ‘vapers’, calling them rude, etc, but those are minorities like any other minority hoodlum found in Malaysia. I think, with the proper etiquette it will be the start of other people accepting it, like if one were to be in a cafe there is no reason to blow smoke right in front of people’s faces.
The government has got to admit that having the Malaysian youth, gather online and attend vape conventions while swapping stories about tips and vape ‘e-juices’, devices and modifications is far better than having them sit down and talk about rape, violence and drugs.
According to a new study published by Public Health England vaping is actually 95 percent less harmful than their smouldering counterpart. The study, not funded by the tobacco lobby but the UK’s Department of Health, noted that around half of the general public exactly like Malaysians assumed vape, shisha and cigarettes are unhealthy and there is no evidence vaping leads to smoking. On the contrary it’s reported that vape acts as a useful tool to help smokers quit cigarettes.
Another positive note that no one ever mentions is that jumping on the vape train can save you a considerable amount of money compared to the traditional smoking. With the double hike smokers received this year, cigarettes has definitely made a dent in all smokers’ wallets. So, for them to cut down on cost, just purchase a vape with liquid refills and there you have it.
A pack of Marlboros costs RM13.80 and if one were to purchase a packet every day for a month that’s RM 386.40, whereas the average vape is RM300 and the refills range between RM5-RM30. You got yourself a big save right there and a couple of decades on your life.
Is that why the Malaysian government and other tobacco high rollers are afraid off? Tobacco business gets run out by vapers? Why is vape considered ‘haram’ but cigarettes are still being sold freely?
Now who wouldn't want that, different flavours of smoke every day, a cheap and healthier option and you get a longer lifespan?
So what did vape ever do to you to get banned?
