I read with great concern, that there was another landslide at the Karak highway; a highway used by many people during the weekends.
What is the Works Ministry actually doing? Not once, not twice, not thrice, this has happened on many occasions, with most incidents narrowly missing people. When will we act? Will action be taken on parties involved only when massive casualties are incurred? Is this the kind of lesson we need to get things moving?
Looking into the actual scenario, these Karak landslides happened due to a burst pool of water on the hill top. S Samy Vellu blamed this on an act of God. Yes, the rain was an act of God, but not the pool of water. Why wasn't it detected by the authorities earlier and some kind of action taken accordingly, to prevent this from happening?
When such things happen, the minister will point the finger in all directions but himself. When is this expired minister going to take the rap for something? Whenever something happens, it is not his fault.
Our prime minister is working so hard to fight corruption in his government, but he is failing to look in Samy's direction. One wonders why?
