As a senior legal practitioner wherein I have trained and guided dozens of chambering students, I wish to comment on the so-called esteemed Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) which has recently been amended, without giving due consideration to deserving and genuine cases of aspiring students who have become victims of the sudden changes introduced.

The recent changes in the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) rules have once again stirred up the movement for Malaysia to adopt a Common Bar Exam (CBE) with respect to standardising admission into the legal profession.

The gist of the referred article is essentially this - that the current Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) ought be abolished, and replaced with a Common Bar Exam (CBE).

We are writing this in furtherance to the letter published on The Star Online yesterday and some news in Mandarin pertaining to this matter for ourselves and on behalf of our peers pertaining to the recent amendments to Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) Examination Rulings which set the time limit and attempts for CLP Examination.
