JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create visually appealing and intuitive web-based journalism projects for the Kini News Lab

• Create UI elements using React, Next, JavaScript and UI frameworks like Tailwind CSS

• Continuously evolve and improve on UI

• Maintain a great understanding of the current UX design trends

• Able to define UX decisions using data

• Demonstrate UX decisions with visual aids like mockups or flowcharts

• Provide design solutions and product direction together to produce high-quality visual wireframes, rapid prototyping, mock-ups, specifications, user cases and scenario

REQUIREMENTS

• Passionate and interested in journalism

• A commitment to adhere to the International Federation of Journalists’ Bordeaux Declaration

• Support for the values prescribed in the UN Human Rights Declaration 1948

• Understanding JavaScript, HTML and CSS is a must

• A strong portfolio with examples of unique and original creations for web and coding is also a must

• JavaScript library React and React framework Next experience is a plus

• Knowledge of UI/UX, SEO, Web Accessibility, and Web Standards is another plus

• Ability to negotiate and articulate the “why” of design decisions. You’ll need to convince, to disagree confidently, and take and give straightforward criticism
