Malaysia is seeing the rise of political appointments into government link companies (GLCs) since Perikatan Nasional formed the federal government in March 2020.
So, what has this got to do with every day Malaysians?
Why do we need to be concerned about the impact of politicians being appointed into plum jobs in GLCs?
In adhering to the new norm of social distancing, the CSO Platform for Reform continues to pursue the reform agenda, to hold the government accountable, and to bring the CSOs and the public together through a series of online platform talkshow styled ‘Urgent Spotlight’ that will cover topics from various angles. The objective of the programme is to have a regular talkshow on various contemporary issues on the impacts of the movement control order period via the online channel.
The talk-show will have a moderator and the expert of the thematic issues such as health care; education; employment; workers welfare and job security; issues on enforcement agencies; economic issues of small business owners; migrant and refugee issues; women’s issues, children’s issue; Indigenous Peoples’ issues, urban poor and so on.
The talkshow will consistently be on Tuesday, 8.30-9.00pm (in English language) and Thursday, 8.30-9.00pm (in Bahasa Malaysia language). All events will be live-streamed at the https://facebook.com/CSOPlatform4Reform.
