MP SPEAKS | MCA part of govt, must campaign in Johor by-elections

MP SPEAKS | We are entering the second leg of campaigning for the state and Parliament by-elections in Johor for Simpang Jeram and Pulai which were left vacant after the passing of our beloved comrade Salahuddin Ayub, a stalwart, a gentleman, a hardworking and dedicated servant of the people, our beloved Bapa Rahmah.

MCA has taken a stand prior to the six state elections that MCA will only campaign for Umno/BN candidates due to the relationship between MCA and Umno in the past.

However, the presence of MCA in the six state elections a month ago seemed dull, lacklustre, and showed almost zero teamwork and partnership in campaigning, as opposed to Umno and even MIC leaders sharing the stage with Pakatan Harapan leaders to bring voters and supporters together to secure a good turnout and a hopeful victory.

MCA must show its fighting spirit against the rise of lies, falsehoods, conservatism, and radicalism by the ultimate spin doctors Perikatan Nasional.

Countering this wave of fanaticism, extremism, and bigotry by PN is the bounden duty of all in Harapan-BN and not up to one party, or one group, or one race or ethnicity.

MCA’s party constitution with its all 16 points focuses on national unity, to promote social justice, economic security, to maintain, foster, and promote goodwill and harmony among the citizens of various races in Malaysia so as to ensure the peaceful progress and growth of a strong and united nation, and this is what the unity government stands for as well.

I wish to draw attention to the point “to work with other political organisations with similar aims and objectives registered within Malaysia so as to encourage the healthy development of party politics”.

I therefore urge MCA to work together with other Harapan-BN component party members to ensure a win for our candidates.

With four state representatives and two MPs from MCA in Johor, all its machinery should be activated and all hands be on deck to ensure we can repeat the wins in Simpang Jeram and Pulai.

A win in Simpang Jeram and Pulai is not only a win for Harapan-BN but a slap in the face for PN that has been peddling hatred, lies, racism, and disunity among Malaysians.

A win in Simpang Jeram and Pulai is a message of support for the unity government and a kick in the teeth for any attempt by PN to topple the Harapan-BN government.

A win in Simpang Jeram and Pulai is a message that a united collaboration of ideas, cultures, and principles is the foundation and future of a Malaysia we all love and deserve.

While PN goes by the mantra of #PNBEST, Harapan-BN goes by the mantra of #MalaysiaMadani and above all, we are Malaysian first.
