Finding the ideal beverage to boost your day can be a real challenge. Whether opting for a refreshing glass of orange juice or a cup of creamy coffee, Sundrop is here to offer you a variety of classic beverages that have stood the test of time.

Founded in the late 1950s, Sundrop was built on the backbones of Green Spot, a company from the US. However, in 1981 trouble struck and the company had a rocky phase due to financial issues. This is when the Lim family took over and rebranded the company into Sundrop Fruit Juices Sdn Bhd. They reformulated the drink to their own recipe and transformed the bottled drink production line to their very own canned drinks you see today.

Since then it has become an iconic household name in East Malaysia (Sarawak).

Sundrop’s history dates all the way back to 1934.

“We promote drinks that cater to local tastes, like lime, teh tarik, kopi-O and among many others. Our manufacturing process focuses on natural raw materials which gives it a unique taste favoured by Malaysians,” said Lim.

We recently interviewed Lim Yu Kong (third from left), the man behind Sundrop success.

Sundrop’s latest packaging designs are inspired by the rich culture of Sarawak!

“We are excited to share with you our new packaging and branding, featuring traditional motifs and elements that represent the beauty and diversity of this wonderful state. We hope to bring these designs to the rest of the world and to share the culture and heritage of our beautiful Sarawak,” said Lim.

Sundrop's commitment to sustainability extends beyond its flavours

Recognising the importance of environmental conservation, the company has embraced eco-friendly practices throughout its production process. From responsible sourcing to efficient waste and water management, Sundrop takes account of every detail.

“As a business entity, we believe it is our duty to make profits in an ethical way and give back part of what we earned to make a better Malaysia. Some of our initiatives include helping local farmers to export their product for example limes because the local market is not big enough”

“We have contributed generously to local charities, especially those involving natives ,youth and education and actively promote sustainable and cleaner production methods amongst local manufacturers as part of our agreement with SIRIM and DANIDA,” explained Lim.

As a proudly Sarawakian brand, its intention is to prove that Malaysian-made beverages are equally in demand and on par with rival international ones. This is reflected in the brand’s tagline, “Joy of Borneo”.

“Thailand has Vitamilk, Korea has Lotte, Indonesia has Teh Botol, China has Wong Lo Kat. Sundrop is proud to be a Sarawak brand and it is our intention to prove to West Malaysians that ‘Sarawak Boleh’ and ‘Malaysia Boleh’,” Lim exclaimed.
