The Selangor state government and local council should give allocations directly to residential associations and joint management councils for them to repair and improve community infrastructure, said Klang independent candidate Deepak Jaikishan.

Currently, he claimed the people living in Klang constituency did not get proper services from the local council while the elected representatives were not offering any helps despite residents have made numerous complaints.

“I want to discuss about how we can solve the problem with all the respective taman-taman (residential area) and all the residents associations are complaining that they're not getting a proper service from the ADUN (elected representatives),” he told in an interview.

One of the solutions would be giving allocations to the residential associations and joint management councils, of which, he thinks could solve the problem faced by the people promptly.

With the allocation, he said the local representatives would be able to use the fund to take care of the condition of their respective areas, such as rubbish collection to be carried out once every two days, ensure drainage system are cleaned regularly and even repair buildings and replace broken water storage tank if required.

“My suggestion is not my inspiration only, it has been implemented by the some city councils,” Deepak said. “People just need their living environment to be well taken care off and well-maintained.”

Deepak will present the proposal to the state government and will take legal action on behalf of the people should the local council and state government continue to ignore well-being of the people.

“If I were to be elected as the Member of Parliament, I and my team will take remedial action within 48 hours upon receiving the complaints,” he said.

In 2019, Pakatan Harapan government had announced allocation of RM20 million to residents’ associations registered with the Registrar of Societies to carry out community, security and neighbourhood activities.

Installing 5000 units CCTV to enhance Klang’s Security

Apart from addressing community issue, another key issue that close to the independent candidate Deepak’s heart is security within Klang vicinity.

He promised to install 5,000 free closed-circuit cameras (CCTVs) around Klang as part of his efforts to help authorities including local council and enforcement bodies to combat crime. The fund will be coming from the civil society as well as businesses.

“Preventing crime was not only an effort that should be made by the authorities especially by the police,” he said, noting police officers have a great responsibility and that Klang is a huge area.

The use of CCTV as a crime prevention tool has been proved effective, as it creates awareness among public, specifically offenders, that they are under surveillance and there is high risk of being apprehended by the authorities if a crime is committed, he added.

Flood Mitigation Plan To Be Developed Within 100 Days If Elected

Deepak, who is contesting in the Klang parliament constituency said he will propose a short-term and long-term flood mitigation plan to the Selangor State Government within 100 days.

“Pakatan Harapan government has been in power for 14 years, but there is no research being done on flood,” he said. “Thus, I will engage a specialist team to conduct research within 100 days, and then submit reports detailing short and long-term measures to prevent flood,” he added.

Should state government fail to address the problem, he would initiate legal suit on behalf of the people against state government, to seek financial losses suffered by the people.

“I hoped voters could give me a chance, so he could propose and implement the mitigation measures within 100 days after being elected,” he said.

In the 15th General Election (GE15), the Klang parliamentary constituency will see a seven-cornered fight of between five political party candidates and two independent candidates.

Deepak will be contesting against candidates from V.Ganabatirau (Pakatan Harapan), Hedrhin Ramli (Independent), Loo Cheng Wee (Warisan), S.Chandrasegar (Party Rakyat Malaysia), P. Jaya Chandran (Perikatan Nasional) and Tee Hooi Ling (Barisan Nasional).
