Independent candidate for the P118 Setiawangsa parliamentary seat, Major (R) Mior Rosli says, if given a mandate by the people in the 15th General Election (GE), he will be focusing on the redevelopment of Setiawangsa and the well-being of its people.

Here are the 5 initiatives that Major (R) Mior Rosli is focusing on:

To upgrade low-cost homes

Most of the low-cost houses in Setiawangsa are constrained by their small spaces with majority of them having only have 2 rooms. This is uncomfortable and inappropriate especially for families with many adults living together.

"Therefore, I am suggesting to modify the layout of those houses, converting 3 houses into only 2 houses. New housing lots will be developed for the families who lived in their previous houses. Such effort will help improve the living standard of the people in Setiawangsa," he said.

To create more business opportunities around Setiawangsa

"From my personal observations of some of those stalls especially the ones by the roadside, I found that most of them have been doing business for years, and every time when approached by the city council enforcement team, they would be chased away".

"Therefore, I am planning to build more food stalls so that these traders can run their business without worries," he said.

To set up at least 10 community service centres

If an area has only one community service centre and if it’s located a bit far from the residential areas, this will make it difficult for the local community to lodge their complaints.

"Therefore, I am planning to establish at least 10 community service centres in Setiawangsa so that residents who face any problem can visit the nearest community service centre to make a complaint and ask for help. I will also visit those centres from time to time.”

To have an urban parliamentary constituency of healthy lifestyle and efficiencies

One of the key issues faced by Setiawangsa people all the while is the lack of green spaces.

Green spaces in the city play an important role in preserving the well-being of the environment. It not only serves as a dedicated space for recreational activities, but also to foster a healthy lifestyle.

"Unfortunately, most of those recreational areas have been sold to large companies for physical development. Therefore, I would like to turn Bukit Dinding into a recreational hotspot where the locals can go there to enjoy the natural greenery".

To bring suitable job opportunities to the young people

Youth unemployment is not a new phenomenon in the country and there are several main factors that contribute to its increase.

"I was a lecturer at several universities, and I found that many young people with a degree qualification are still struggling to find a job," he said.

"Universities that offer courses without an MQA (Malaysian Qualification Agency) accreditation is a very worrying incident. For those who graduate from such institutions, most companies will not accept them when it comes to employment."

"I would like to suggest to the government to keep a close eye on such universities. At the same time, the government shall encourage the young people to study in vocational schools to gain the much needed hands-on skills required by different industries that they are interested in,"

"For the Setiawangsa constituency, I would like to introduce certain vocational workshops to train talented individuals who are interested in the technical field so that they can upskill themselves to meet industry standard and get a better pay".

Major (R) Mior Rosli will be contesting for the P118 Setiawangsa parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election on 19 November 2022.
