Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park marked a major milestone in strengthening international semiconductor collaboration with the announcement of strategic partnerships involving Brazil, ChipInventor, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) with the support of the Embassy of Brazil in Malaysia, through the Innovation Diplomacy Program, and the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. These alliances were unveiled during the “Delivering Next Gen of Chip Builders” event, held at Sheraton Four Points, Puchong — a full-day session focused on private discussions, industry training, and cross-border cooperation.

This international collaboration reflects Malaysia’s commitment to becoming a global leader in semiconductor innovation and talent development. The strategic partnership between Malaysia and Brazil aims to strengthen ties in integrated circuit (IC) design and manufacturing, leveraging Malaysia’s dynamic semiconductor ecosystem and Brazil’s deep expertise in IC design. The initiative is expected to foster joint investments, enable technology transfer, and position Malaysia as a regional hub for semiconductor excellence.

Showcasing the potential of local innovation, Malaysian tech startup Alphaswift Industries—the top winner of the 7th Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP) organized by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec)—has successfully designed and prototyped a silicon chip using ChipInventor’s cloud-based electronic design automation (EDA) platform. The chip is now ready for fabrication at Silterra, Malaysia’s leading foundry, highlighting the growing capability of Malaysian startups in the global semiconductor landscape.

To further develop local talent, the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM) is working with ChipInventor to deliver industry-relevant training through programmes such as the National Semiconductor Excellence Programme (NSEP) and the Global Semiconductor Exchange Programme (GSEP). These initiatives aim to equip Malaysian students and professionals with vital skills in chip design, testing, and verification—supporting the nation’s ambition to lead in high-tech manufacturing and innovation.

ChipInventor’s platform is hosted on AWS’s cutting-edge infrastructure in Malaysia, enabling secure, scalable, and high-performance chip design workflows. This partnership not only enhances Malaysia’s digital ecosystem but also promotes the global adoption of cloud-based semiconductor design tools. The AWS Asia Pacific (Malaysia) Region plays a vital role in accelerating local digital transformation across industries.

These strategic collaborations reinforce Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park’s role as a catalyst for global semiconductor growth—driven by innovation, skilled talent, and international partnerships. Together with Brazil, ChipInventor, AWS, and ASEM, Malaysia is setting new benchmarks for technological excellence and global leadership in the semiconductor industry.
