Malaysiakini and Kinihalal snagged Bronze and Silver awards during the Best Salam Taiwan Awards Night

Taiwan’s top tourism authority, Taiwan Tourism has awarded the Silver Award to Kinihalal for Most Influential Story and Bronze to Malaysiakini for Best Innovative Storytelling in conjunction with Salam Taiwan 2024 campaign. 

Deputy Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, James Buu presented the awards to Kinihalal’s Managing Editor, Syilda Ismail during the Best of Salam Taiwan Awards Night on 25th March.

Kinihalal's Creative Director, Nadyatul Shima and Assistant Manager Business Development, Syahirah Ibrahim were also in attendance at the event.

James in a statement said, Malaysia remains one of Taiwan’s most important tourism markets and the muslim community’s specific needs continue to inspire them to enhance the quality of their tourism service.

“Through the real-life stories and experiences shared by Malaysian media and influencers, Taiwan’s hospitality and warmth are being seen, felt, and celebrated — instilling greater confidence and excitement among Malaysian travellers.” he said.

Other esteemed guests during the event included the Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration Kuala Lumpur Office, Abe Chou; airline representatives; and Ambassador of Salam Taiwan, Nabila Razali.

Nabila added, in an effort to offer Muslim travellers an insight into the island’s charms, Taiwan has been actively promoting Muslim-friendly tourism that suit every kind of traveller whether they prefer urban lifestyles, cultural discoveries, romantic escapes or nature-based adventure.

“I’m grateful to our local media and creators for experiencing Taiwan firsthand and highlighting its diversity and inclusiveness, especially the growing availability of halal dining options and prayer facilities.”  the singer said.

The Best of Salam Taiwan Awards Night honours Malaysian media professionals who participated in the Salam Taiwan familiarization trips over the past year and played a key role in promoting Taiwan as a Muslim-friendly travel destination.

Over 100 media representatives, social media influencers, and celebrities attended the awards night hosted by The Taiwan Tourism Administration Kuala Lumpur Office including the two award-winning media portals.

The event also featured a special awards ceremony recognising outstanding contributors across key categories, including video content creation, social media impact, and feature storytelling to appreciate media’s ongoing support until now. 

The Best Salam Taiwan Awards Night were joined by the Taiwan Tourism Administration and media practioners.

Looking forward, the Taiwan Tourism Administration reaffirmed its commitment to a deepening collaboration with Malaysia’s travel industry, media, and creator communities through strengthening the Salam Taiwan brand.

The initiative aims to co-create more tailored, Muslim-friendly travel experiences, solidifying Taiwan’s position as a top-of-mind destination for Muslim travellers from Malaysia.
