Ushering in the Year of the Snake, Malaysia’s leading property developer, IJM Land Berhad, is set to bring Seremban to life with its much-anticipated annual Chap Goh Mei celebration. Scheduled for 15 February at the enchanting Seremban 2 City Park, this year's event promises to be a night filled with joy, unity, and cultural appreciation.
A cherished tradition since 2014, IJM Land’s Chap Goh Mei celebration has grown into a major cultural highlight, symbolising prosperity and togetherness for the Seremban community. This year’s event, jointly organised with Astro, will be bigger and better than ever, featuring a concert-themed celebration titled ‘Love's In The Air SHARE Feng Nian’.
The theme decor, ‘The Joyful SHARE Journey’, draws creative inspiration from the classic Snakes and Ladders game. Incorporating the Cantonese homophones "舍" (share) and "蛇" (snake), the concept symbolises exploration and joy. The design blends modern pop culture with traditional artistic elements, transforming the game board into an interactive space filled with surprises and photo spots.
The festive setup features a mix of traditional and contemporary touches, including a large paper-cut birdcage, cherry blossom trees, and colourful floral lights. At the center are three baby snake sculptures, representing the Year of the Snake. Additionally, a 20-foot-long New Year Blessing Wall, showcasing 300 blessing paintings created by students from Art Corridor Studio and The Music & Art Academy Port Dickson, adds a cultural and community-driven element to the celebration. This year, the iconic Lover’s Bridge will be adorned with romantic elements, creating another stunning photo spot for visitors to capture memorable moments.
Datuk Chai Kian Soon, Chief Operating Officer of IJM Land Berhad expressed the company’s commitment to strengthening community ties through meaningful events such as the Chap Goh Mei celebration. “Our Chap Goh Mei festivities have brought joy and memorable experiences to visitors for years. This tradition allows us to celebrate togetherness while fostering cultural appreciation.”
“This year’s celebration marks a special milestone as we commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Seremban 2 township, alongside the 9th edition of our Chap Goh Mei event. It’s our way of expressing gratitude to the residents and creating a sense of belonging by bridging the gap between new and existing residents. We want everyone to feel welcomed and part of the Seremban 2 family,” added Datuk Chai.
The celebration will begin at 7.00pm, visitors can stroll through the beautifully lit 15-acre Seremban 2 City Park, capturing memorable photos while enjoying a variety of local delicacies from the numerous food booths. Attendees can also engage in traditional Chinese riddles, enjoy the thrill of engaging game stalls, and participate in a special meet-and-greet with the Baby Snake Mascots (Xilele and Jin Jin). The first 800 visitors will also receive exclusive Chinese New Year gifts from IJM Land.
The evening will feature various cultural performances, including a 24 Festive Drums show, dance routines, and LED high-pole unicorn and lion dance displays to entertain the crowd. The excitement continues with Astro's special themed concert, ‘Love's In The Air SHARE Feng Nian’, featuring a stellar lineup of performers including Xiao Hui Min (host), 3P, Steady Gang, Zhao Jie Ying, Geraldine Yan Hui Ping, and Fuying & Sam, among others.
“These efforts would not have been possible without the continued support from Astro. Our longstanding collaboration has made this celebration memorable for many years, and we’re excited to bring another night of fanfare to the community,” Datuk Chai concluded.
