Lalamove celebrates its heroes

In 2018, Lalamove Malaysia began as a simple logistics solution, connecting individuals and businesses with drivers who could get things from point A to point B. But when the Covid-19 pandemic swept across the globe, Lalamove drivers found themselves at the forefront of a societal shift. With movement restrictions in place, they became more than transporters; they became essential lifelines, delivering food, medicine and essentials when no one else could.

Before the pandemic, people relied on friends or family to handle small deliveries. However, this was no longer an option in an era of isolation and lockdowns. Lalamove filled the void, not just as a service but as a means of keeping people connected in the most trying of times.

One of Lalamove’s most appealing aspects for partner drivers is its flexibility. Some work full-time to support their families, while others take it on as a side hustle - students saving for tuition, parents supplementing household income, and even individuals setting aside funds for personal milestones, like weddings.

In recognition of their hard work and commitment, Lalamove Malaysia hosted its Driver Partner Appreciation Day 2025 at Hyatt Place Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 11. The event served as a moment of gratitude and celebration, welcoming drivers from across the country, including Johor Bahru, Malacca and Penang.

At the event, the top-performing drivers were rewarded with RM1,000 each, a 2-day, 1-night stay at Hyatt Place and exclusive goodie bags from Lalamove Malaysia.

“This event is all about giving back to our drivers, the backbone of Lalamove’s success,” shared Sheila Azmi, Lalamove Malaysia assistant manager of operations.

“We want to celebrate their hard work and show how much they mean to us. Some of them brought their families today, which makes this even more special.”

High-performing drivers were recognised based on specific criteria: the number of orders completed in 2024, high customer ratings and positive feedback from users.

One of Lalamove’s superstar drivers includes Muhammad Marwan bin Sulaiman, a motorcycle driver partner since 2019, who completed an impressive 2,440 orders in 2024 alone. His deliveries covered a staggering total distance of 41,987 km.

Over his six-year journey with Lalamove, Marwan has consistently maintained an excellent driver rating of 4.98 and earned thousands of “Favourite Driver” badges from satisfied customers.

“To maintain this level of service, I always make sure to be friendly to customers and keep them constantly updated on their delivery status,” Marwan shared after the event.

“A good driver isn’t just someone who completes orders. It’s someone who builds trust and earns loyalty from customers. When users request the same driver repeatedly, it’s a sign of a job well done,” Sheila added.

As the evening unfolded, laughter and heartfelt conversations filled the air. For the drivers, this was a rare chance to connect with other drivers, hear each other’s stories and be celebrated for their efforts. For Lalamove, it was an opportunity to thank the people who made its service possible.
