The Budimas Charitable Foundation hosted its 6th Night of a Thousand Blessing, an annual fundraising gala exclusively for Malaysia's underprivileged and Orang Asli children. The black-tie event, held at the Pullman Hotel KLCC in Kuala Lumpur, drew over 400 supporters, business partners, and members of the community and donated RM400,000. This is seen as a key step toward building a powerful platform for fostering impoverished children in Malaysia.
The Chairman of The Budimas Charitable Foundation, Y.M. Tunku Dato’ Yaacob Khyra, was Guest of Honor. The Budimas Board of Trustees, Board of Governors, business sponsors, media representatives, and the children who benefited from this admirable endeavor were also present at this important occasion.
“We are gathered here tonight not only to celebrate, but to remind ourselves of the responsibility we bear towards the most vulnerable members of our society, with every ringgit raised, we give hope, stability, and a brighter future to children who deserve the chance to thrive.” Tunku Dato' Yaacob Khyra shared in his heartfelt opening speech.
The Budimas Charitable Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to the event's major sponsors, which include Sunway Medical Centre, Farm Fresh Malaysia, United U-Li, Hasani Group of Companies, Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur, MAA Group, and Mydin Mohamed Holdings. Their continuous support and partnership with the foundation supports our efforts to reach more Malaysian children. Little or large, any contribution from these committed partners makes a difference for the children.
The Budimas Charitable Foundation’s Impactful Initiatives
Since its inception, The Budimas Charitable Foundation has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of underprivileged children allocating funds to a variety of programs that have a significant impact:
Budimas Home Charity Fund (BHCF): This program currently supports more than 50 children's homes in Malaysia, providing a secure and nurturing environment for more than 2,000 children who have been displaced or abandoned.
Budimas Food Charity Fund (BFCF): This initiative provides daily meals to children in need, and it has now reached over 5,000 pupils in 160 schools, including new expansions in Sabah. The foundation intends to widen this effort to include an additional 1,000 children in the upcoming year.
Budimas Education Charity Fund (BECF): Budimas established 12 libraries in Orang Asli communities since 2015, offering more than 6,000 books and digital resources. The foundation aims to build 12 additional libraries in 2025 to enhance educational opportunities for indigenous children.
In 2024, the foundation also launched two new programs, expanding its commitment to holistic child development:
Budimas Children Medical Care Fund (BCMCF): Collaborates with Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur and other institutions to offer life-saving surgeries and essential care to children with critical illnesses to provide medical support.
Budimas Performing Arts Fund (BPAF): Fosters self-expression and confidence in children while preserving cultural heritage by introducing them to the arts, which include music, dance, and traditional performances.
The Night of a Thousand Blessing was an indelible evening, brimming with inspiring speeches and performances, including the Budimas Orion Home’s Choir, traditional Gendang and dance displays, accompanied by a vibrant live music that enhanced the atmosphere of the event. In addition, the dinner included a silent auction where attendees generously placed bids on distinctive items that would advance Budimas’ mission.
Ms. Anne Rajasaikaran, Principal Officer of Budimas, spoke passionately about the foundation’s progress, “Thanks to the unwavering support of our donors and partners, we are able to help over 10,000 children each year through our programs. But our mission continues, and every contribution brings us closer to ensuring that no child in Malaysia is left without hope.”
