As part of this commitment, Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (“DSH2”) has become the first hospital in KPJ’s network to receive the Green Building Index (“GBI”) certification. The GBI certification recognises DSH2’s high standards in energy efficiency, sustainable site planning and indoor environmental quality, setting a model for KPJ’s other specialist hospitals.
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Ismail Bakar, Chairman of KPJ Healthcare highlighted the policy’s significance, “The Sustainability Policy embeds responsible practices into every area of our operations, helping us reduce our environmental impact while upholding the highest standards of healthcare. With the GBI certification for DSH2, we are setting a standard for environmental responsibility that reflects our commitment to the communities we serve.”
Chin Keat Chyuan, President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare, added, “This policy directs the group’s use of renewable energy, waste management strategies and green building standards across our hospitals. Every member of KPJ Healthcare has a role to play in this journey, reinforcing our commitment to a healthier future for both our patients and the planet.”
Looking ahead, KPJ Healthcare will continue to strengthen its sustainability practices, building on this policy to set new benchmarks for environmentally responsible healthcare. Through ongoing efforts and future initiatives, KPJ aims to establish a healthcare model that prioritises both patient care and environmental responsibility.
