SHAH ALAM, 8 October 2024 – The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) is proud to announce that it has been named the winner of the Digital Opportunity/Inclusion Award (Public Sector) at the World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) Excellence Awards 2024, held in Yerevan, Armenia. This prestigious international accolade recognises Sidec’s groundbreaking efforts to promote digital inclusion through key initiatives, including the Selangor 1000 Digital 2024 and the Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards.
Sidec is one of only two Malaysian organisations to receive this prestigious honour in 2024. Alongside Sidec, Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd also earned recognition, winning the Digital Transformation of the Year Award (Private Sector/NGO) for its Mobile Intelligent Network Diagnostic System (MINDS). These remarkable achievements highlight Malaysia’s growing influence on the global stage of digital innovation and transformation.
Adding to Malaysia’s achievements at WCIT 2024, Pandai became the first-ever WITSA World Cup Champion, while Entomal Biotech earned the silver prize at the prestigious WITSA World Cup 2024: Zohari Challenge Trophy. Both companies represent Malaysia proudly and have demonstrated the nation’s strength in innovation and its growing reputation as a leader in the global tech ecosystem.Their success, alongside Sidec's recognition, further solidifies Malaysia’s growing influence in global innovation and technology.

This initiative reflects Sidecs dedication to fostering an inclusive digital ecosystem where businesses of all sizes can thrive.
Similarly, the Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards 2024 recognises and celebrates outstanding e-commerce merchants across the country. With over 500 merchants shortlisted this year, the awards drive growth, innovation, and best practices within the digital marketplace. In 2024, the platform generated a remarkable RM109 million in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) from over 2.38 million orders. Over the past seven years (2018-2024), the awards have contributed to a cumulative GMV of RM367.5 million.
The WITSA Excellence Awards Ceremony took place on October 6th, 2024, in Yerevan, Armenia, where Mr. Loo Chuan Boon, COO of Sidec, and Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM Research & Development, proudly accepted the awards on behalf of their respective organisations.
