KUALA LUMPUR, 5 October 2024 –The Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day 2024 wrapped up with over 2,000 turn ups and 3,000 screenings over two days. The event, organised by Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) and Malaysia Advanced Semiconductor & AI Academy, saw 25 of the leading semiconductor companies come together under one roof at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.

From on-the-spot job offers to career consultations, the event delivered unparalleled access to Malaysia’s brightest talents and the high-growth and high-paid semiconductor industry. Graduates, experienced professionals, and top employers gathered in an atmosphere buzzing with excitement and opportunity.

Job seekers had the opportunity to engage with leading companies, including industry giants like NXP, UST Global, Infineon Technologies, Inari Amertron, STMicroelectronics, Renesas, Vitrox, Synopsys, Skyechip, and Chipsbank (Singapore) , Betterlife (China) and several more across Malaysia. The event resulted in hundreds of on-the-spot job offers, with high demand for key roles such as RTL Design Engineer, Design Verification Engineer, Physical Design Engineer, and Analog Circuit Design Engineer.

Three distinct groups of participants stood out during the event. First, fresh graduates, particularly those with mid-level academic standings, attended in large numbers as they sought employment opportunities after extended job searches. Second, current professionals workers, mainly from the manufacturing division, were eager to explore new roles within the semiconductor field. Lastly, there was a significant presence of international job seekers, primarily locals who had been working overseas and returned to Malaysia due to economic challenges in the western countries. The presence of some parents at the event highlighted their optimism about their children's potential careers in the semiconductor industry.

Many attendees expressed their excitement about the event, which attracted job seekers from across Malaysia, including from the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak. Mohd Faris bin Ahmad, a recent graduate from a local university, shared, “I am excited with the opportunities here. This event is important for fresh graduates to find a suitable job, especially in the semiconductor field." Another attendee, Mohd Iqbal, noted, “It was a very good initiative to help young people with opportunities to get a job. I hope there will be more events like this.”

Employers were also impressed by the quality of candidates. Mr Zainul from Inari Technologies, “The concept is very good because it gives a good exposure for talent to search for the best opportunities for them. At the same time we can gauge the job demand of job seekers in the market.”

This recruitment day wasn’t just about filling roles – it was about shaping Malaysia’s future in the semiconductor industry. With the event seeing hundreds of successful interviews and many candidates walking away with on-the-spot job offers, it was a clear win for both job seekers and employers alike.

Following the success of the Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day 2024, Sidec is committed to hosting more events that will continue to strengthen Malaysia’s National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS). These initiatives will further enhance Malaysia’s presence as a key player in the global IC design and semiconductor sectors.
