KPJ Healthcare and Mayo Clinic Collaborated to Host a Neurology Forum on Movement Disorders for Medical Practitioners

KPJ Healthcare Berhad (“KPJ Healthcare”) in collaboration with Mayo Clinic, hosted a specialised Neurology Forum at KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital (“KPJ Damansara”). The forum, which focused on movement disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, brought together leading neurologists, healthcare professionals and specialists to discuss the latest treatment advancements and share clinical insights.

Parkinson’s Disease (“PD”) is a growing global concern, particularly affecting the elderly. According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, over 10 million people worldwide live with PD, a disorder marked by tremors, stiffness and balance issues. About one percent of people over 60 and nearly four percent of those over 80 are diagnosed with the disease.

Dr. James Bower, Neurologist, Mayo Clinic presented on ‘Update on the Medical Treatment of Parkinson Disease’ at Neurology Forum.

The forum featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. James Bower, Neurologist from Mayo Clinic; Dr. Azmi Abdul Rashid, Consultant Neurologist of KPJ Damansara; Dr. Nordiana Nordin, Consultant Geriatrician of KPJ Damansara; Dr. Nurhayati Mokhty, Consultant Radiologist of KPJ Damansara; Dr. Teh Pei Chiek, Consultant Neurologist of Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 and Dr. Parwathi Alagirisamy, Head of Rehabilitation Services of KPJ Damansara. Their presentations covered recent advancements in treatment approaches, case studies on movement disorders and rehabilitation strategies to improve patient outcomes.
