Maaedicare Charitable Foundation, a leading NGO based in Kuala Lumpur dedicated to aiding kidney patients and promoting health awareness, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a remarkable fundraiser.

Over 400 guests attended this incredible night, graced by Her Highness Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah as their VIP Guest of Honour.

Themed "Health for Humanity Fundraiser Ball 2024 - 30th Anniversary," the event was held to recognise 30 years of impactful contributions and showcase the Foundation's significant achievements. Guests had the opportunity to participate in a Silent Auction, offering their support through monetary contributions to expand the Foundation's initiatives in raising awareness and preventing kidney and heart diseases.

Expanding Kidney Care Programs and Fortifying Heart Health

The fundraiser was a resounding success, raising a staggering RM500,000 in combined cash and in-kind donations. This incredible sum will fuel Maaedicare's mission, expanding its kidney care programs at 11 dialysis centres, strengthening heart health initiatives through heart assessments at the Cardiac Diagnostic Centre, and bolstering health screenings through two Klinik Amal Percuma. This includes exciting plans to open more free clinics, bringing essential healthcare to even more under-served communities.

Maaedicare Charitable Foundation has been instrumental in providing subsidised dialysis treatments across its 11 dialysis centers nationwide. Since 1994, the Foundation has served a total of 32,000 patients. The Foundation also runs a Cardiac Diagnostic Centre and offers free medical screenings at its two Klinik Amal Percuma, promoting early prevention of kidney and heart diseases.

Yang Mulia Tunku Dato' Yaacob Khyra, Chairman of Maaedicare Charitable Foundation said funds raised would benefit Maaedicare to strengthen its medical facilities and effectively provide essential renal care to its 800 dialysis patients. Ultimately, he added that the Fundraiser seeks to foster a healthier future by bridging gaps in medical services and uplifting healthcare quality across the country.

Tunku Dato Yaacob said Maaedicare started treating patients, by charging a highly subsidised RM 99 per treatment, compared to private clinics, which were charging RM 250 per treatment.

"After 30 years in operation, Maaedicare today charges only RM 110 per treatment; an inflation of RM 11, after 30 years; and this has been made possible, through the control of costs, bulk purchasing of supplies, and careful management of investment funds," he said.

Tunku Yaacob added these treatments have aided in extending the lives, of 24,000 dialysis patients. "Almost all have since passed on, but the quality of life we have helped them live, and the fulfillment of full lives they have enjoyed, cannot be understated," he said.

Ms. Anne Rajasaikaran, Chief Executive Officer of Maaedicare Charitable Foundation and Chairperson for Health for Humanity Fundraiser Ball 2024, said Maaedicare is proud to mark three decades of dedicated service to the underprivileged communities in Malaysia.

She called on everyone to support healthcare initiatives through the Maaedicare Charitable Foundation and improve lives.
