KLIA, 23 July 2024 – To enhance Malaysia's appeal to investors and attract high-skilled talent, the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) and Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) today unveiled the Expatriate Satellite Centre (ESC) at KLIA Terminal 2.
The new ESC at Terminal 2 follows the success of the initial ESC at Terminal 1, which was launched on 30 November 2021.
During the launch event, the Minister of Home Affairs, YB Senator Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Bin Ismail, emphasised that the ESC demonstrates JIM's commitment, in collaboration with TalentCorp and its subsidiary MYXpats, to streamline immigration processes, thereby contributing to the nation's development.
He also highlighted that Malaysia has seen an increase in expatriates and is becoming a preferred destination for multinational companies and investors. This trend is expected to positively impact the country's economic growth and create more high-value, high-growth job opportunities for Malaysians.
The ESC Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 facilitate the immediate issuance upon arrival of Employment Passes (EP), Professional Visit Passes (PVP), Dependant Passes (DP), and the Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T). These services are available to companies under the purview of the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) and Malaysia Expatriate Service Centre (MYXpats), the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).
Strategically located at the Arrival Hall on Level 2, the ESC at KLIA Terminal 2 is fully functional and operates 24 hours a day, offering continuous and dedicated support to expatriates arriving from all around the world.
Thomas Mathew, TalentCorp’s Group CEO, stated that the enhanced immigration service process via the ESC, which previously had a 30-day processing period, will now save time and increase management efficiency for companies with immediate expatriate needs.
He also shared that the collaboration with JIM, ongoing since 2014, has been fruitful and beneficial for the country's growth, particularly in adopting improvements and innovations. He cited the Xpats Gateway single window launched in June 2023, which brings 26 approving agencies under one roof, as an example of the government's vision to enhance business competitiveness through reforms and robust policies.
Since November 2021 to 21 July 2024, there have been 22,390 passes issued at the ESC KLIA Terminal 1, resulting in estimated savings of over RM330 million for businesses in Malaysia.
The launch event of the ESC was also attended by Dato' Ruslin bin Jusoh, Director General of the Immigration Department of Malaysia, and representatives from the international business chambers in Malaysia.
