Internet Alliance is a non-profit organization representing many of Malaysia’s top digital infrastructure service providers. Its members consists of datacentres, internet service providers, internet exchanges, ecommerce platforms, hosting and cloud service providers, payment gateways, cybersecurity firms and other systems integration companies.
In a significant move towards shaping a future-ready workforce, Internet Alliance Malaysia (IA) is driving impactful changes in the IT industry through strategic ecosystem partnerships. The IA's Talent Development Programme is a collaborative approach to bridging the gap between industry and academia.
Key partnerships with prominent entities, including the Malaysian Digital Association (MDA), the National Association of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI), Multimedia University (MMU), and Selangor Digital School (SDS), form the bedrock of this transformative initiative. These collaborations aim to cultivate talents and foster growth within the IT sector.
In collaboration with MDA, IA will offer approximately 2,000 internships and apprenticeships annually. IA has also launched an online digital platform designed to connect students and talents with its member organizations, enabling talents from NAPEI, MMU, and SDS to seamlessly find opportunities to kickstart their careers in the IT industry.
The Talent Development Programme emphasizes building bridges with educational institutions and reaching out to on-ground talents. A recent event at MMU highlighted the strength of these partnerships by connecting IA members with students participating in MMU’s iCadet and internship programs.
A unique aspect of the IA's Talent Development Programme is the integration of industry insights from CEOs and business owners. By sharing their experiences, these leaders offer students invaluable perspectives on the complexities of business organizations, enriching their understanding of the IT sector.
In a short span, IA's outreach efforts have engaged over 300 students, creating meaningful connections and growth opportunities. The active participation of more than 30 IA members underscores a collective dedication to mentorship and knowledge-sharing, reinforcing the program’s impact on the industry’s future. Notably, through collaboration with SDS, IA supports the development of underprivileged talents, equipping them with essential skills and opportunities to succeed in the IT industry. These students receive foundational training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios.
IA recognizes the Talent Development Programme as an ongoing learning process. The focus on collaboration, industry insights, and active member involvement propels IA towards a future where the boundaries between industry and academia blur, creating a comprehensive environment for talent development.
This initiative underscores IA’s vision of creating a workforce adept at navigating the evolving demands of the IT industry. By fostering an ecosystem of nurtured talents and forged connections through collaboration with industry associations, educational institutions, and programs for underprivileged talents, IA aims to ensure the IT sector's sustained growth and resilience.
