Sidec Announces Successful Business Trip and Signing of Four Strategic MOU

Shah Alam, 30 March 2024 - Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), a leading force in Selangor's digital economy landscape, is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of an international business trip to Taiwan that culminated in the signing of four pivotal Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with key global partners. The delegation was honoured with the presence of the Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade & Mobility YB Ng Sze Han, further emphasising the significance of these agreements. These agreements mark a significant milestone in Sidec's mission to foster sustainable and innovative digital ecosystems in Selangor and beyond.

During the trip that took place from 19 until 22 March 2024, Sidec solidified partnerships with the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, the Institute for Information Industry (III), the International Cooperation Center of the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), and the Department of Information Technology, Taipei City Government. These MOUs are set to revolutionise the digital landscape by emphasising collaborative efforts in smart city development, mobility data platforms, talent exchange, and resource sharing.

  1. Urban Tech Advancement with Taipei IT Department: Collaborating with the Department of Information Technology, Taipei City Government, Sidec aims to further develop the Selangor Mobility Data Platform, sharing insights and innovations in urban transport technologies.

  2. Sustainable Smart City Collaboration with III: This partnership with the Institute for Information Industry (III) is aimed at creating resilient and sustainable smart cities, fostering digital transformation, and sharing best practices in smart city development.

  3. Selangor-Kaohsiung Mobility Initiative: Sidec and the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government will work together to develop the Selangor Mobility Data Platform, enhancing urban transport intelligence and collaborative technological advancements.

  4. Twin Office and Manpower Exchange with TCA: The agreement with TCA focuses on establishing twin offices and exchanging manpower between Taipei and Selangor, facilitating bilateral support for SMEs and startups, and enhancing market access.

These MOUs represent a leap forward in our commitment to driving digital innovation and supporting the growth of smart cities," said Yong Kai Ping, CEO of Sidec. "Through these international collaborations, we are not only expanding our horizons but also reinforcing our dedication to creating a more connected, sustainable, and technologically advanced future."

While these MOUs are non-binding, they signify the beginning of long-term strategic partnerships that prioritise mutual benefit, transparency, and shared growth. They provide a framework for future collaboration, resource sharing, and the collective pursuit of digital excellence.

Meanwhile, Sidec demonstrated its unwavering commitment to sustainability and innovation with its participation at the 2024 Smart City Summit & Expo in Taiwan. This dedication resonates with the principles of Malaysia Madani, emphasising sustainability through the concepts of green cities and smart cities.

During the Summit, Yong Kai Ping, took the stage at the Bridging Innovation: Taiwan & Thailand Startup Showcase. "Our dedication extends beyond digital innovation; we hold a deep commitment to sustainability. It is with great anticipation and a shared vision for a sustainable future that we, on behalf of the Selangor government, embark on the Greentech challenge with Taiwan."

The event provided Sidec with a platform to underscore its crucial role in driving forward smart city initiatives and nurturing collaborations aimed at fostering sustainable, well-being, and resilient urban environments.
