Kuala Lumpur – Medical nutrition brand Valens Nutrition issues an urgent consumer alert regarding counterfeit versions of its product, Valens Myotein High Whey Protein. The company has discovered these fraudulent products circulating in the market pose potential health risks to consumer’s safety and health.

The alert stems from a recent incident reported by a consumer in early December 2023. The unsuspecting consumer had recently bought a counterfeit Valens Myotein High Whey Protein from unauthorized resellers via Shopee Malaysia.

The consumer soon experienced weakness and vomiting after consuming the counterfeit product, emphasizing the potential health hazards associated with these illegal imitations.

Differences between Counterfeit and Genuine Myotein
While the counterfeit’s packaging may appear similar at a first glance, a detailed examination reveals key differences. The counterfeit features a different canister pack size, labeling, cap colour and aluminium seal. The content inside the counterfeit is also strikingly different from the genuine product in terms of colour and texture.

A more glaring inconsistency would be the falsified company information and product origins imprinted on the counterfeit’s canister.

Valens Myotein only has TWO (2) SKUs which are: 300g Canister and Box of 30 Sachets.

The counterfeit product falsely asserts to be manufactured in the US and a product of USA, while the genuine Valens Myotein has always been and will continue to be a product proudly made in Malaysia by Pharm-D Health Science Sdn Bhd (previously known as BioScenergy International Sdn Bhd).

As of now, two (2) unauthorized resellers selling these counterfeits have been identified on Shopee Malaysia.

Strict legal actions have been taken
In response to these counterfeit incidents, the company has since lodged a police report and complaint to Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna (KPDNHEP).
