Koperasi Kakitangan PETRONAS Berhad (KOPETRO) announced a very promising financial performance for the financial year ending 31 December 2022 by recording a total revenue of RM291 million, an increase of 54 percent compared to 2021, which amounted to RM189 million. To add, KOPETRO also recorded a 220 percent increase in pre-tax profit to RM5.5 million compared to 2021, in line with the increase in demand for retail products, food and beverages and tourism due to the recovery of the global economy.
The financial performance was announced at the KOPETRO Annual General Meeting held for the 40th time, last Saturday at The Everly Putrajaya. A total of 15 cooperative board members and 69 delegates who came from all over the country gathered as early as 8 in the morning to witness the opening ceremony of the annual meeting. Also present as observer at the meeting was representative from the Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia (SKM).
In his opening speech, KOPETRO Chairman, Roslan Abdul Rahim, emphasized the importance of close relations between representatives, the Board and the management of the cooperative in order to ensure that their opinions and feedback are taken into account in efforts to develop KOPETRO's business to a greater height. Roslan told the delegates present, in line with KOPETRO's excellence in 2022, among the steps taken to expand the market for KOPETRO's products and services for the following year, is to strategically work together with other cooperatives, cooperative federations, Institute Koperasi Malaysia (IKMa), Universiti Keusahawanan Koperasi Malaysia (UKKM), in addition to collaboration with other industry players.
"I am confident that the strategic relationship will bring many benefits and open up new opportunities for KOPETRO and our business partners. With the synergy and abilities that we have, we hope to achieve greater success in the business field and provide optimal returns to the members of the cooperative," said Roslan.
Uniquely this time at the 40th Annual General Meeting was the handing over of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KOPETRO's subsidiary KOPETRO Trading & Services Sdn. Bhd. with three strategic business partners namely Gading Kencana Sdn. Bhd., Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn. Bhd. and CARSOME Sdn. Bhd.
Roslan also expressed his appreciation for the representatives and members who are an integral part of the cooperative which recently celebrated its 43rd year of establishment.
He further explained that KOPETRO will continue to be committed to ensuring the well-being of members through various benefits, aid and financing products that are expected to further strengthen KOPETRO's position as a competitive business entity and provide long-term benefits to cooperative members.
Established on 30 October 1980, KOPETRO is made up of over 15,000 employees of PETRONAS and its subsidiaries, and has been recognized as the 10 Best Cooperatives in Malaysia. KOPETRO was honored with the prestigious Best Brand award, The BrandLaureate SMEs BestBrands Award, in the Leisure - Holiday Solutions and Tourism category.
In 2020, KOPETRO achieved two esteemed awards: the SMEs Bestbrands e-Branding Awards by The BrandLaureate and the Lang International Corporate Titan Awards - Cooperative Icon of The Year 2020.

Besides Membership and Financial Services, KOPETRO is also involved in the field of Travel and Leisure, Food and Beverage as well as Trade and Retail Services, in addition to the Shariah-compliant pawnbroking service, ArRahnukita, which started their operations in 2021.
