BANGI, 13 May 2023 - Koperasi Kakitangan PETRONAS Berhad (KOPETRO) officially announces the latest branch of their pawning service, ArRahnuKita at Seksyen 9, Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor. ArRahnuKita Bangi is the second branch of the shariah compliant pawning service belonging to the cooperative that has started operations since 28 February 2023.

Chairman of KOPETRO, Roslan Abdul Rahim says, the successful opening of the second ArRhanukita branch is proof of their commitment to KOPETRO members in expanding the existing business network in order to provide a more attractive dividend return.

“After achieving KOPETRO's objective to operate our very own pawning service last year, we managed to take another step forward today with the establishment of the second ArRahnuKita branch.” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of ArRahnuKita Bangi.

Roslan added, “Society is now more mindful and aware of the advantages of making long-term savings and investments with gold. Looking at the current situation, where the world is facing an alarming rate of inflation, gold is the best solution for customers to make savings, investment and business capital.”

ArRahnuKita plans to open four more branches and is currently searching for suitable locations to expand its pawning business services network. The statement was made during the opening ceremony attended by Members of the Cooperative Board, representatives, members of the Internal Audit Committee, and KOPETRO management.

According to Tuan Haji Shamsudin Haron, Head of Membership and Financial Services Division responsible for leading ArRahnuKita's business, apart from branches in Sungai Besi and Bangi, the ArRahnuKita branch in Ampang has also started operations this month.

Ar-Rahnu is a financing product that allows jewelry to be used as collateral to be turned into cash. The financing carried out by ArRahnuKita is based on the shariah concept of Tawarruq and is open to all races and religions.

ArRahnukita accepts all types of jewelry with gold quality 750 to 999, which is equivalent to 18 carat to 24 carat.
