KUALA LUMPUR: Early next month, Minister of Youth and Sports YB Hannah Yeoh will be launching SEEKscapes by JobStreet, an initiative aimed at empowering Malaysian youths to realise their fullest potential and discover their purpose through sustainable careers in fun and engaging ways.

Scheduled for 4 and 5 March 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Sentul Depot @Workshop 1, Jalan Strachan, Sentul West, 51100 Kuala Lumpur, SEEKscapes is being hosted and organised by Malaysia’s leading employment platform JobStreet by SEEK with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

JobStreet Managing Director Vic Sithasanan described the event as a ‘shining example of a public-private partnership’ aimed at providing a platform for the youths to discover and unlock their potential whilst providing jobs and opportunities for the youth community, and to further elevate Malaysia’s competitiveness as a nation.

“SEEKscapes is not your typical job fair but a nation-building initiative for youths to further ‘discover themselves’ and get insights into their personal development, while exploring career opportunities suited to their individual passions and strengths,” said Vic.

“We are extremely grateful to YB Hannah Yeoh and her team at the Ministry of Youth and Sports for all the guidance and support they have given us to ensure a highly successful and productive event for attendees,” he added.

The Ministry will also be hosting career talks for the youth community at the event, featuring speakers such as Mazlan bin Mohamed, Senior Assistant Director from the Ministry of Youth & Sports, who will help youths discover the secrets to career success with his talk on “Yes or No: Decision Making Throughout Your Career Journey”.

“SEEKscapes by JobStreet is a great platform for the youths in Malaysia to unlock their potential by discovering their strengths, personality, passion and interests via the various exciting activities planned at the event.” said Vic.

“In the spirit of pursuing one’s passion, we also have the likes of Dr. Jason Leong, Malaysia's very own medical doctor who is now a worldwide comedian with two Netflix comedy specials, Pete Chareonwongsak, CEO of Teleport, Caroline Wee, VP Brand & Strategy of Tealive, Ungku Liza, CEO of Boost Life (Boost), David Leung, VP of Hotel Operations at Genting Malaysia, Al Irwan Fikri, Training Manager of Sports Direct, and Woei Hern, Head of Creative APAC of VAYNERMEDIA who has been in the advertising game for over two decades.”

JobStreet understands that youths who are stepping into the workforce for the first time may find this journey of discovery to be daunting and at times confusing. Thus the event is developed to not only engage with the youths but also to provide them with a platform to learn and understand their personalities in a fun and refreshing way, starting with a personality quiz that help will generate a digital infographic about themselves that comes with some suitable career suggestions.

What’s more, they will also be able to engage with hiring companies on the lookout for talent, including household names such as Teleport, Sports Direct, Genting Malaysia, Big Bad Wolf Books and Sunway Berhad.

Everyone can expect to have an enjoyable time with live performances, dance groups, live music, fashion shows which were planned with the intention to provide a platform for youths to pursue their passion and discover the talent in them. The event will also bring in F&B flavours that were curated to resonate with the youths and provide attendees with a fun filled multi-sensorial event that brings discovery, fun and food together. And coincidentally, JobStreet will be giving out free Starbucks, Tealive & Joybean soy milk drinks to attendees at the event.

“We have a number of young people at JobStreet who are in their 20s and 30s, and together with the young team from the Ministry of Youth Sports, we have ensured to create a ‘must visit’ event for youths,” said Vic.
