KUALA LUMPUR: LGMS Berhad (LGMS) was recently recognised by Cybersecurity Malaysia (CSM) as the country’s ‘Cybersecurity Company of the Year’, while LGMS Berhad Executive Chairman Fong Choong Fook commended as ‘Cybersecurity Professional of the Year’.

The awards were presented to the company at the Cybersecurity Malaysia - Awards Conference and Exhibition held recently in Kuala Lumpur to acknowledge organisations and individuals within Malaysia's cybersecurity industry.

"The awards are conferred in recognition of their innovativeness, commitment, industry/product/service leadership, and sound business strategies," said CSM in a statement.

"The awards are intended not only to recognise the efforts of information security professionals, homegrown SMEs and global organisations, but also to encourage innovation and spark strategic alliances within the local security and ICT industry; thus, emphasising the importance and growth of information security in Malaysia's vibrant ICT landscape," it added.

LGMS Berhad, which was listed on Bursa Malaysia's ACE market in June this year, has built a strong reputation for being an end-to-end cybersecurity group in both Malaysia and throughout the Southeast Asian region.

Fong said that the company felt both 'honoured and humbled' to have received the recognition and expressed his intention to continue 'uplifting cybersecurity expertise for the greater good and security of Malaysia'.

He dedicated the awards to his team, and said that 'as captain of the ship', he would continue charting LGMS Berhad to greater heights, including an aspiration to move the company to the main board of Bursa Malaysia.

"From our humble beginnings close to two decades ago, the LGMS Group has simply grown by leaps and bounds to become a global brand and the ‘Grab’ of cybersecurity and covering various segments and industries: From government and large enterprises to banking and financial institutions, even small and medium enterprises (SMEs)," he said, referencing the group's more than a thousand local and global clients.

"However, we cannot rest on our laurels as cybersecurity is an unregulated industry and threats like ransomware have become more malicious and dangerous," he further said, adding that the LGMS team would continue doing all it can to protect all its customers.

LGMS is currently in the process of expanding regionally, increasing investments and workforce in the development of its own IP (intellectual property) and apps, and looking at further strengthening the group's balance sheet.

It plans to launch new offices in Cambodia, Vietnam and Singapore to support what Fong described as the group's 'hyper-growth regional strategy'.

“Besides cyberattacks which are on the rise in recent months and years, regulation requirements coupled with more organisations embracing cloud computing business models are factors that continue driving the cybersecurity industry,” he said.

“The prioritisation of corporate security has resulted in more organisations seeking out LGMS to oversee various cybersecurity areas such as cyber risk prevention services, cyber risk management and compliance services, while also providing incident response and digital forensics.".

LGMS’ unique differentiator is the provision of penetration testing and professional services that are IS0 17025 certified for its local and regional clientele.

It currently has more than 60 experts in penetration testing and digital forensics backed by decades of industrial experience, with the goal of doubling its current 100-strong workforce within the next two years.
