KUALA LUMPUR: BeliGas, a tech company that rewards consumer to  recycle used cooking oil for cheaper LPG gas has rebranded itself to EDAR, a digital wholesaler for FNBs & SMEs.

“We are delighted to share the news of BELIGAS rebrand as EDAR to public today. This has been under the wraps for months and I am proud to unveil EDAR as a B2B wholesale company focused on servicing FNBs and SMEs; delivering bulk essential and FMCG  products as short as 6 hours from time of ordering,” says Suthan  Mookaiah, EDAR chief executive officer and founder.

“EDAR remains a purposeful company, built to deliver impactful  changes for the community and the environment at large”, he added.

BELIGAS started in June 2020 at the height of the pandemic as a  social enterprise to empower those who lost their jobs during the  lockdown, especially B40s and ex-convicts by selling cooking gas.

Over the last 24 months, the platform and the app grew from a  simple home gas delivery service to a unique multi service provider that’s allows recycling as a payment option used by 17,000 monthly customers, with more than 100 ex-convicts hired under its program.

Delivery of bulk groceries and supplies in local areas

EDAR now takes the lead as a B2B wholesale company delivering bulk supplies and groceries; with EDARgas delivering bulk cooking gas, EDARborong delivering FMCG and essential supplies and groceries, and EDARsemula being the recycling arm of the company specializing in bulk used cooking oil pickup, under one app platform called EDAR.

Suthan said the new brand represents what the company does, and what it aspires to be for the FNB & SME industry as a whole; to deliver comprehensive bulk delivery and recycling solution that saves time, effort and money for its business consumers.

Meanwhile, EDAR is introducing several new features to make it more friendlier to its target users. For one, EDAR is introducing Express Bulk Delivery as fast as 6 hours, with multiple delivery options including Night and Public Holidays. Another feature is EDAR Self Pickup Stores, where customers can visit to purchase bulk stocks and deliver recyclables by themselves to save on delivery fees.

“For now, we are allowing used cooking oil recycling for payments, and EDAR will extend to plastic waste as well once we refine our logistics and supply chain,” Suthan clarifies.

EDAR is currently available in 312 areas across KL, Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan, with service rollouts planned over the coming months to cover the entire country.

EDAR plans to expand out to its first overseas venture as early as  2023, eyeing Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore as its initial target.
