Those gunning for a Diploma in Business Administration / Diploma in Business or Diploma in Communication & Media / Diploma in Mass Communication will stand to save several thousand ringgit in tuition fee waivers at UOW Malaysia KDU.

This applies only for this July's intake.

As with most diploma programmes, these highly intensive two-year courses will equip students with an in-depth level of know-how for work upon graduation.

The Diploma in Business Administration / Diploma in Business costs about RM35,000 – RM41,000 for locals, so the 15% waiver will save students up to RM2,000.

Prepare to immerse yourself in the Principles of Management and Marketing.

You will also learn Organisational Behaviour, which is a subject in which you will learn how to deal with colleagues at all levels and how to foster teamwork.

Also in the first year will be a "gauntlet" of subjects which can seem dry but are necessary.

These include Business Law, Introduction to Accounting, Introduction to Information Technology, Macroeconomics and Microeconomics.

Such learning will stand students in good stead when they take up positions in the business world.

In the second year, Diploma in Business Administration / Diploma in Business students will tackle the rigours of e-commerce, a necessary lore in the new normal brought about by the pandemic.

On top of lessons in Entrepreneurship, Financial Management, Finance and Banking, Human Resources Management, second-year students must also delve into the intrinsic nature of Personal Development and Leadership.

Second-year Diploma in Business Administration / Diploma in Business students must also choose four elective subjects to pursue, of which there are five:

Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Company Law, Business Ethics and Service Marketing.

Choosing four out of the above will depend on the acumen and inclinations of each student.

The Diploma in Communication & Media / Diploma in Mass Communication costs about RM38,000 – RM46,000, so the 15% waiver will save students almost up to RM2,000.

A somewhat outward flair will be imparted onto these students because they will learn Public Speaking Skills, Writing and Referencing and Public Relations in Practice, among many other subjects even in the first year.

But they will have to "go deep" and delve into Introduction to Sociology, Media Research Methods and Media, Culture and Society.

In the second year, students pursuing the Diploma in Communication & Media / Diploma in Mass Communication must tackle Mass Media Law, Film and Genre Studies, Consumer Behaviour and Media Strategy Planning, among many other subjects to be able to design successful public relations campaigns.

As with all diploma programmes at UOW Malaysia KDU, every student who graduates is qualified to pursue the relevant degree programmes with exemptions from many subjects during the degree years.

The advantage of these diplomas, however, will imbue students with the needed know-how to join society's workforce upon graduation, and they can pursue their bachelor's degrees at later dates.

A big advantage for school leavers is that it only takes three SPM credits, including a credit in English, to be eligible to take up these diploma programmes.

Students will enjoy the sterling education standards of UOW Malaysia KDU, especially after University of Wollongong (UOW) was ranked in the Top 1% of the QS World University Rankings 2023.
