UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or the “Company”) has contributed and arranged for essential goods to be distributed to 250 families residing in Kampung Segambut Dalam, one of the areas placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

This is the latest caring Corporate Social Responsibility effort by the Company to support groups and communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Kampung Segambut Dalam is also within close proximity to several of UEM Sunrise’s developments such as Residensi Sefina, Allevia Mont’Kiara and Kiara Kasih.

UEM Sunrise volunteers assisted in delivering the essential goods including canned meat and noodles to 500 families of Kampung Segambut Dalam and Kampung Masjid Segambut yesterday.

With residents under strict lockdown rules and unable to leave or enter Kampung Segambut Dalam due to the EMCO, UEM Sunrise representatives led by Chief Executive Officer Sufian Abdullah along with Member of Parliament for Segambut YB Hannah Yeoh and the Social Welfare Department left the supplies including canned meat and noodles at the Bilik Gerakan PKPD Kampung Segambut Dalam yesterday. The group distributed supplies to another 250 families in Kampung Masjid Segambut, a neighbourhood just outside the EMCO border.

“My heart goes out to all residents of Kampung Segambut Dalam affected by the lockdown. It is imperative that we support our closest communities, and we hope that our contributions will lessen some of their worries. As a responsible corporate entity and guided by our C.H.I.E.F. values, we will continue to do our best to assist affected groups including frontliners during these difficult times,” said Sufian.

Yeoh also commended UEM Sunrise for lending a hand in making sure that these closest communities are not left behind. “It is crucial that we find ways to ensure that the most affected communities continue to have basic supplies to live through the EMCO. In times when resources are stretched really thin, I am heartened that UEM Sunrise and other corporates and NGOs have stepped up to ensure the communities who are in need the most do not go hungry during this very challenging period,” she said.

On 25 June, the National Security Council announced two localities within Kuala Lumpur to be placed under EMCO including Kampung Segambut Dalam from 26 June to 9 July.

UEM Sunrise previously organised two programmes during the Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri period which included distributing essential items to the Kampung Orang Asli Simpang Arang in Gelang Patah, Johor and sending out cash contribution to the Pertubuhan Nur Kasih Bestari Orphanage in Kajang, Selangor in April and May, respectively.

Last year, the Company made donations to Malaysia Relief Agency and Malaysia Red Crescent Society of Johor, as well as Hospital Kuala Lumpur; for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE), face masks, medical equipment and a ventilator machine. At the same time, groceries were distributed to 300 families in Johor in partnership with Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri and the Johor Bahru district office.
