Lalamove is extending its Deliver Care initiative to benefit more non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that are impacted by the full movement control order (FMCO). This corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative is an avenue for Lalamove to facilitate deliveries of essential items to medical frontliners and communities that need them in Klang Valley, Penang and Johor.
During this FMCO, 12 NGOs have partnered with Lalamove to reinforce their logistics operations with Lalamove’s fleet of 4 x 4 trucks, vans, lorries, and cold truck lorries.
One of the beneficiaries of this year’s Deliver Care is The Lost Food Project. The charity body champions a healthy ecosystem of surplus food by donating excess food to underprivileged communities.
“The movement restrictions pose many challenges that can cripple the volume of our food rescue. Plus, our volunteer lorry drivers are mostly senior citizens. We are accountable for their well-being in the pandemic since they belong to a vulnerable group. Lalamove’s sponsorship is a lifesaver since we can continue our operations with their fleet. Now, we can continue serving our charity partners while addressing the issue of hunger and malnutrition among the needy,” commented Mohd Syazwan, General Manager of The Lost Food Project.
Beyond Borders Malaysia is another charity body that is benefiting from Deliver Care. Besides fulfilling the essential daily needs of the B40 group, refugees and migrant workers, Beyond Borders Malaysia is extending its repertoire by delivering food to medical frontliners at World Trade Centre, Ampang Hospital and Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya.
“We have difficulties in delivering our items, especially with tight SOPs and interdistrict travel restrictions. Without the authorities’ approval, we can’t deliver essential items to deserving communities,” said Cheong Chee Keen, who represents the non-profit humanitarian organisation CREST Malaysia.
Community Transformation Initiative Bhd (CTI) which is a non-profit organisation working among the urban poor in Kota Damansara, sent donated foodstuff for the B40 community nearby through Lalamove’s Deliver Care.
Lalamove conceived the Deliver Care project in response to the first wave of Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020. Besides disruptions to the economy and a spike in the unemployment rate, the indiscriminate nature of the MCO affected the mobilisation of food and essential items to the needy due to restricted movement orders.
Through Deliver Care, Lalamove alleviates the logistics issues of NGOs by sponsoring their deliveries to targeted beneficiaries. In 2020, Lalamove successfully aided local NGOs by fulfilling up to 1,000 charitable deliveries including meals, essential items and medical supplies under the CSR initiative.
Currently, Lalamove is accepting applications from the NGOs to enrol in its Deliver Care initiative. The qualified applicants can use Lalamove delivery service for their charity projects at complimentary basis. Vaccination centres are also encouraged to enrol in the initiative if they require support in essential deliveries to medical frontliners.
