Malaysians can now have easier access to online shopping as Lazada Malaysia introduces a new Chinese-language interface option on its app. The update is effective immediately, and all users with the latest version of the Lazada app across Android and iOS can select Chinese as their preferred language, in addition to the existing English and Malay language options.
"In the age of the New Normal, eCommerce has become engrained in the daily lifestyle of Malaysians, with the continuous upward trend of online shopping prevailing across various demographics and age groups nationwide. We've seen a rapid growth of grocery purchases on Lazada, which has more than tripled year on year during the pandemic. This is a clear indication that online shopping today amongst our culturally diverse Malaysian community is no longer just limited to the tech-savvy youths,” said Rick Ting, Head of User Growth, Lazada Malaysia.
“To cater to the diverse community of online shoppers who are increasingly relying on eCommerce for their daily essentials during the pandemic, we have upgraded the Lazada app with an additional Chinese-language interface. By giving our shoppers the option to choose either English, Malay, or Chinese as their preferred language, we hope to make shopping on Lazada even more accessible and inclusive while improving shoppability and customer experience on our app,” added Rick.
The new language feature enhancement on the app also aims to help its merchants connect with new customers. Its multilingual functionality will make it easier for merchants to reach a broader base of potential customers and grow their business by marketing relevant products in their customers' preferred native language and search terms.
The new Chinese-language option is currently in its initial launch phase on the Lazada app, where users can search for products, as well as navigate the app’s main homepage, product display, add-to-cart, checkout, and account-detail interfaces in Chinese. More comprehensive updates and improvements will follow soon. App users can already try out the new Chinese-language option with these three simple steps outlined below:
Tap the ‘Account’ button on the bottom right corner;
Tap the ‘Gear’ icon on the top right corner to open the ‘Settings’ page;
Tap the ‘Language’ button to select and apply the preferred language option.
In conjunction with the launch, Lazada will also be hosting a 6.18 Global Carnival on 18 June. Lazada shoppers will be able to enjoy Free Shipping vouchers, 50% off discount vouchers, and deals below RM19.90 on international goods from LazGlobal stores*. Stay tuned to LazLive too for great offers.
With the extended nationwide total lockdown, eCommerce remains a lifeline for many homebound communities. Lazada's efforts to provide a multilingual experience on its app for Malaysians will make it easier for anyone and everyone to shop online in these unprecedented times.
