KL’s Hotel Maya continues to hold loving memories for TIME Executive VP Kit Au

Time dotcom (TIME) Executive Vice President Kit Au had a hectic twelve months when the movement control order (MCO) was implemented a year ago. Being in essential services, and as the Head of TIME’s Enterprise division, he had to work round-the-clock to ensure customers continued to receive optimal service levels, while also expanding TIME’s cloud computing offerings.

Hence, time (mind the pun) is a precious commodity for Kit.

“Whatever spare time I have, especially on weekends, it is always with my family,” shared Kit. “And there is a special place in our hearts with strong sentimental values, and that place is KL’s very own Hotel Maya.”

Located nearby the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Hotel Maya has always been a popular destination with tourists from Europe, China and Southeast Asia (pre-MCO).

For Kit and his family, it is much more than that. He had his wedding reception at Hotel Maya more than two decades ago.

Till today, he would regularly head there with his family to spend quality time, while reminiscing about how lucky he is to have found the love of his life, Siew Keng.

Blessed with two lovely daughters, Jane and Jade, the family spent last weekend (again) at Hotel Maya while enjoying the luxuries of its newly refurbished suites.

“The biggest achievement in my life was marrying Siew Keng,” Kit shared open-heartedly. “We try our best to be good parents to Jane and Jade, to instil in them with the right values, and make it a point to always spend quality family time.”

“Whenever we visit Hotel Maya, the memories are always brought to life because this was where their parents were married, and the start of our journey as a family.”

“It is a lovely hotel, a true hidden gem in the heart of KL where one can just escape to re-charge.”

Kit was a ‘high achiever’ with Microsoft and a winner of its prestigious Platinum Circle of Excellence Award (it is said that less than 0.2% of Microsoft employees worldwide are recognised with this award – Kit is second from left in pic below).

He had travelled all over the world and stayed at various five-star establishments throughout Asia, Europe and the United States.

In his opinion, Hotel Maya ranks highly when benchmarked against global establishments due to its unique “Maya Experience”.

“This very unique 5-star hotel features spacious rooms, and trendy food & beverage outlets which somehow soothes our human senses,” said Kit. “It’s quite remarkable because as you enter the hotel, your senses are somehow transported to exotic realms!”

“The ambience in Hotel Maya is both contemporary and compelling with a lot of thought having been put into its creation: From the stylish interior with bamboo panelling, areas that incorporate flowing water to the elegant furnishings which somehow create positive vibes.”

The hotel recently re-opened for booking again as MCO restrictions are being progressively lifted.

Meanwhile, Hotel Maya general manager Sharmini Moganasundram said that its owner had invested substantially to further upgrade the hotel.

“At Hotel Maya, we are fully committed to continue being one of Kuala Lumpur’s premium boutique hotels,” said Sharmini.

“While some other establishments in Kuala Lumpur are cutting costs, we took a contrarian approach with our continued investments in the renovation and beautification of the hotel,” she added.

Completed renovations include the creation of “Heritage Rooms” to provide guests with the experience of “a taste of Malaysia, truly Asia”.

For Kit Au and family, Hotel Maya will always be their special place to visit, and one they hold dearly within their hearts.
