Yayasan MRCB donated 3,000 books worth RM50,000 to 12 selected schools located in the Klang Valley and Penang. The book donation is in support of the national campaign called “Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan” championed by the Ministry of Education. The ten-year national campaign aims to make Malaysia the ‘Reading Nation’ by 2030 (Negara Membaca 2030).

Yayasan MRCB’s trustee, Datuk Shamrat Sen Gupta said at the handover ceremony, “The foundation’s contribution of books to schools hopes to make reading a lifestyle among Malaysians, especially the young generation. This initiative is also to contribute to the nation’s efforts to democratise access to quality reading materials.”

Puan Rohana Abdullah, Headmistress of SK Brickfields 2, commented, “We want all our students to be lifelong readers, and this habit needs to be inculcated from a young age. Having a library filled with a variety of quality books, both fiction and non-fiction, greatly helps us achieve this goal. The books received from Yayasan MRCB will benefit our students.”

The twelve schools that received the donation are:
Primary Schools: SK Brickfields 2 in Kuala Lumpur, SK Kg Johan Setia, SK Kampung Medan, SK Pendamaran Jaya, SK Kg Pendamar, SK Bukit Rahman Putra and SK Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh in Selangor, SK Mak Mandin in Penang.

Secondary Schools: SMK (P) Air Panas in Kuala Lumpur, SMK Bukit Rahman Putra in Selangor, SMK Convent Butterworth and SMK Kampong Kastam in Penang.
