To fulfill corporate social responsibility and encourage frontline medical workers, Durio PPE Sdn Bhd, the manufacturer of face masks and melt-blown fabrics in Johor Bahru, Malaysia has sponsored 10,000 face masks for the frontline staff of the hospital. The handover program was held at the lobby of Hospital Sultanah Aminah Polyclinic building on 10 September in the morning.
Durio PPE Sdn Bhd Business Development Manager Kong Kian Hao said the initiative was part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to express appreciation to front liners, especially in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.
He said 1.5 million face masks were produced in a day for the local market and 20 percent of the amount will be channeled to frontline staff throughout Malaysia.
"To date, there are more than 30 face mask manufacturers nationwide following the Covid-19 pandemic, working hard to make Malaysia self-sufficient for mask consumption followed by high demand for face mask needs from local.”
"It is our responsibility to produce quality, affordable and adequate face masks for consumers in the country, as well as reduce dependence on imported products," he said when met after the handover program completed by Johor State Health Director Dr. Aman Bin Rabu.
Besides, Durio PPE Sdn Bhd has also sponsored face masks to schools and charity organizations including Special Education Integration Program of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Gas Sandakan, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Pandan, SJKC Foon Yew 5 as well as the Kiwanis CareHeart Center.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aman thanked the corporate companies that also played a role in ensuring that the transmission of Covid-19 could be curbed.
He said, of course, personal protection should be given priority to frontline workers when they face risks in maintaining the safety of the people and the country.
