SHAH ALAM, 18 JUNE 2020 – The Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) has announced the top 30 startups selected for the Selangor Accelerator Programme 2020 (SAP 2020) 3rd Cohort yesterday.
Officiated by Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Chairman of Standing Committees for Investment, Industry & Commerce, and Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) of the Selangor State Government and Yong Kai Ping, Chief Executive, Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC), the programme is held virtually due to COVID-19 pandemic and in regard of the safety and health of all attendees.
The programme itself is presided by a panel of judges, who contributed 70% of the judging score for participants of the programme. The other 30% of the scores include their performance and attendance for the aspects of the programme.
30 out of 110 submissions were carefully selected to take part in the SAP 2020. They were chosen based on their outstanding ideas in New or Emerging Technologies across industries and verticals such as A.I., Blockchain, Cloud computing, Big Data, Machine Learning, IoT, Smart City and e-Commerce.

About SAP
SAP is a top-tier accelerator programme that targets 30 local high-potential startups by providing them with an intensive 4-months training programme. For its 3rd cohort, SAP 2020 focuses on New or Emerging Technologies applicable across industries and verticals such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud computing, Big Data & Machine learning, Internet of Things and Smart City & E-Commerce technologies, solutions and services.
SAP aims to enhance the startup ecosystem in Selangor by amplifying and accelerate their entrepreneurship works and pitch their innovative proposal on Selangor Demo Day to be organise on 5th September. SAP also attempts to identify potential innovative products and solutions from entrepreneurs and startup that can be piloted or adopted by the state as well as the private sector.
2019 saw the top 10 winners travelling to Jakarta, Indonesia as part of a study trip to explore the startups ecosystem of the country and the visit included to prominent startups such as Unicorn, Go-jek and Bukalapak. Meanwhile the top 10 startups of SAP 2018 had their study tour in TsingHua University, China.
About SITEC
Selangor has been making great headway into its efforts to uplift the Digital Economy since 2015 with its e-Commerce, startup and Smart City initiative SITEC. Established under the secretariat of Invest Selangor by the Selangor State Government, the Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) is chaired by the Chairman of the Standing Committees of Investment, Industry & Trade, Small and Medium Industries (SME), YB Dato’ Teng Chang Khim. SITEC aims to develop Selangor as the regional trading hub for e-Commerce and to uplift the startup ecosystem within the state.
From 2015 to 2019, SITEC has conducted more than 93 e-Commerce classes for the public, organised 8 international and regional e-Commerce and Smart City events and reached over 200,000 people in the e-commerce, startup and smart city industries. SITEC economic contribution for the last 4 years amount to RM200 Million in Gross Merchants Value (GMV).
SITEC facilitates e-Commerce uptake through their specialised Online 100, Apps 100 and Education thrusts. Up to 2019, through the Online 100 and Apps 100 thrusts, 575 brick and mortar merchants have been trained and onboarded to sell online via major marketplaces, on top of receiving 575 e-store mobile apps on iOS and Android.
