Bjak is targeting to hire 1,500 staffers in the next 24 months to drive digitalisation of financial services in Malaysia.

The MSC status technology company, Bjak aims to accelerate the digitalization of essential financial services and provide everyone with equal access to online financial services. Leveraging Malaysia as the talent hub in Southeast Asia, Bjak plans to invest over RM100 million in research and development, creating high-value employment opportunities for Malaysians.

“We are capitalising this opportunity in the jobs market and expanding aggressively. We want to attract the best people for various positions with specializations ranging from software engineering, finance, business development, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, product design as well as corporate development,” shared Peter Ang, Vice President of Strategy.

Leading digitalization of insurance in Southeast Asia

Founded with the social mission to empower the B40 community to make smart (“Bjak”) financial decisions, Bjak launched Bjak.com in 2019 to allow car and motorcycle owners to compare and renew insurance policies instantly. Currently, Bjak.com leads the insurance marketplace as the single largest motorcycle and car insurance platform in Malaysia with more than 3 million users and 14 insurance brands.

Moving beyond vehicle insurance, Bjak eyes the life and health insurance industry and Singapore as its first stop of regional expansion. “It is an exciting time in the next few months. We will launch the first online life and health insurance platform in Malaysia, providing an alternative to traditional agents. Across the border in Singapore, we are launching the first car insurance aggregator platform with 10 insurance brands quoted instantly,” shared Peter Ang.

Joining a growth-focused team

Ng Yi Yao, a computer science graduate from Iowa State University described working in Bjak as fast-paced, customer-focused and growth-oriented. “We work closely in a cross-functional team to launch web applications and features that leverage new technologies such as data science, robotic process automation, machine learning and WebRTC,” said the software engineer.

“To attract the best talent in the region, Bjak offers competitive remuneration packages which include sponsored training and development opportunities, insurance coverages and overseas trips,” added the Vice President of Strategy.
