Covid-19 has changed how we live, move, work and study. From contact tracing apps to delivery services and video conferencing not just for work and school but also to keep in touch with loved ones from a distance, our lives have never revolved more around technology as they do now. We are constantly being reminded of just how important technology is. With digital literacy being the new literacy, one question begs to be answered: Are our children being adequately prepared for the digital world of tomorrow?

AI Academy strives to furnish young minds with an essential 21st century skill: proficiency in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. The academy, part of the Orbix Education Group, is the first of its kind in the region, with a specially designed syllabus from the world-renowned AI giant, iFLYTEK.

AI is a broad field of study, and students will be exposed to its myriad aspects from coding, programming, natural language processing to big data analysis and machine learning. Along with this are lessons in the history and evolution of AI, as well as the complex nature of ethics and security that surround its function.

Pioneering Malaysia’s first AI syllabus

AI Academy’s syllabus is built upon a foundation of the concepts and principles of AI, creating a natural progression towards more advanced topics and ideas.

To enhance the learning process, students will have the opportunity to interact and work with Zenbo Junior, an adorable robot whose primary function is to teach children the intricacies of programming. Zenbo Junior is a STEM-learning tool specifically designed for use in a classroom.

Students will first learn the fundamentals of programming with Zenbo Lab, an application that uses a block-based coding language, later progressing to more advanced programming languages such as Python and Java. Beyond its extensive capabilities is its undeniable cute factor, a huge plus in encouraging children to engage and learn about a complex subject.

The programme is broken up into three segments. Children as young as six will be introduced to AI and robotics, discovering hands-on how AI affects learning and our day-to-day lives.

The entire course provides a firm and expansive grounding in the world of AI, putting students in good stead for a future that is increasingly entwined with technology.

The AI lessons are available as an extracurricular activity for students of Orbix International School. Children who do not attend Orbix will be given the opportunity to learn all there is to know about AI on the weekend.

Pioneering innovation in education

The interactive AI lessons are part of the seamless learning pathway at Orbix Education Group. After all, education isn't just about course content and homework. At Orbix, students are encouraged to experiment, express and partake in activities, events and extracurricular activities. Orbix believes in cultivating inquisitive, broad-minded and morally mature students who are able to take on real-life challenges in society.

Orbix International School is bringing education into the 21st century, one campus at a time. It opened its first campus in Muar in 2018 with the intent of serving the larger community by providing high quality, holistic education at affordable prices. In its endeavour to provide the best for its students, the school cherry picks its courses: employing the globally-recognised IGCSE curriculum from primary school all the way up to A Levels, the Singapore Maths Syllabus and the nation’s first artificial intelligence (AI) syllabus, designed with Chinese IT giant iFLYTEK.

A second campus opened in Batu Pahat in 2020. Orbix International School in Batu Pahat is ensconced within a beautiful pocket of nature—flanked by ancient mangrove forests and the Straits of Malacca. The campus also offers resort-like boarding facilities with chalets right next to the school. Students at Orbix Batu Pahat will also have access to Senta Adventure Camp, a sister company that specialises in teambuilding through a variety of planned outdoor activities that range from archery tag, obstacle courses, zip lining, abseiling and more.

Orbix’s campuses in Batu Pahat and Muar recently shared the results of their IGCSE students – a 100% of their cohort scored a minimum of 2 A/A*s, with their top student Teo Jia Xin sweeping the board with an incredible 9 A*s. Orbix International Schools prides itself on cultivating a bilingual environment, with every single IGCSE student scoring at least an A for Mandarin.

The group’s newest addition is located in the heart of South Klang. Its state-of-the-art facilities occupy the entire first floor of Pier8 at Gravit8—a lakefront community hub where residential, commercial and leisure facilities converge.

Orbix International School Klang follows the successes of its predecessors, combining the best of international education from the West with the academic rigour and structure of the East. It falls in line with Orbix’s common goal of shaping educated, cultured and broad-minded citizens of the world, equipping young minds with the skills and ethics necessary to navigate a world almost indivisible from technology.

Orbix International School, Klang, is now open for registration. The first 100 students to enrol will be given a 20% discount on tuition fees for the entire duration of their studies at Orbix. Visit the school at Level 1 Gravit8, Jalan Bayu Laut/KS9 Kota Bayuemas, 41200 Klang, Selangor, or call/Whatsapp +6012 998 9155 for more details.
