City life can be rather hectic. To take a breather, many throng to recreational parks. Lush greenery and tranquil surroundings give us respite from the hustle bustle of the city life, and help us rejuvenate.

We at the Klang Valley are blessed with several wonderful recreational parks, some of them rather breathtaking in splendour.

1. KLCC Park

The 50-acre KLCC Park is perhaps the most iconic and beloved public parks in Malaysia. It features a 1.3km jogging track, an epic 2-acre children's playground, a wading pool, patterned footpaths and sculptures, and home to 1,900 indigenous trees from 74 species.

2. Perdana Botanical Garden, Kuala Lumpur

The Perdana Botanical Garden (formerly known as Taman Tasik Perdana or Lake Gardens) has long been a part of KL's green lung. This park is unique in that it has elements of a show garden, and the ambiance of a tropical rainforest despite being in the middle of KL.

3. Bukit Kiara Park, TTDI

Bukit Kiara is very popular among families and hikers/joggers. It is located in the heart of the densely populated and affluent residential area of Taman Tun Dr Ismail.

4. Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong

FRIM in Kepong is a must-visit if you're a nature lover. FRIM has the world’s oldest and largest re-created tropical rain forest, with outstanding tropical biodiversity comparable to those of natural forests.

5. Central Park, Desa ParkCity

In the heart of Desa ParkCity, Kepong lies a Central Park popular among residents and non-residents alike. The park features a picturesque lake, tree-lined 9-foot-wide jogging/walking pathways, a children’s playground, and iconic park benches.

If you're staying in the vicinity of Subang Jaya, we have great news for you! Instead of travelling far to these 5 parks, you now have another fantastic option right there at Subang Jaya.

In case you haven't already heard, a new park has emerged in Subang Jaya -- the Urban Park of Tropicana Metropark.

This sprawling 9.2 acres of Urban Park forms the social heart and green belt of the 88-acre Tropicana Metropark township.

  • Lush landscape, complete with a 750m canal

  • Pedestrian promenades encircle and traverse the canal, forming a looping trail for endlessly scenic walks

  • 2.8km of pathways for walking, running and cycling

  • A reflexology path

  • Open picnic lawns

  • Parcourse for outdoor exercises

  • Barrier-free ramp access makes the Urban Park children- and elderly-friendly
