The idea for this 24 hours non-stop photography challenge comes from Victor Tong, founder of Revolve Production and a professional photographer with a decade of experience in the creative photography industry. Victor was in a discussion with Malaysia Book of Records and Panasonic Lumix for a collaboration project to spread positive vibes among fellow Malaysians during this challenging Covid-19 period. The first phase of the project which was planned in Kuala Lumpur slowly picked up pace right after Malaysiakini’s event arm, Kini Events, decided to join hand in hand with Revolve Production to organise this event as they find the project’s objectives were in line with their KITA MALAYSIA project. Through this project which starts at Kuala Lumpur (Phase 1), both Revolve Production and Malaysiakini aim to promote local tourism in introducing the beautiful cities in Malaysia, to showcase hidden talents among Malaysians, and most importantly to promote unity among Malaysians.

With 20 iconic locations in the heart of Kuala Lumpur suggested by Tripcarte Asia, an online ticketing platform, 12 multi-ethnicity models from Runway Productions, 12 Malaysian fashion design’s students from Inti College led by Andy Catherine to inspire the youth in harnessing their creativity, and 3 photographers; Victor Tong, Tengku Azri Bin Che Ku Su Sulong and Komagarajan A/L Athirajan to further strengthen the unity message, the 24 hours non-stop challenge kickstarted on 9th September, 7 am with the first location at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad. Midway through the challenge, YB Senator Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker, Deputy Minister of National Unity made an appearance at Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) for a video shoot of the Kita Malaysia theme song by Colour of Voices. The challenge ended on 10th September, 9 am with the final location at Dataran Merdeka, completing a total of 27 hours, and all three of them successfully entered the Malaysia Book of Records for the title of “Longest Non-stop Patriotic Photography Event“.

All hourly updates of the first phase attempt can be seen on the Kita Malaysia Facebook page (facebook.com/kitamalaysia.fb) with the full video and final edited images to be released on Malaysia Day, 16th September 2020.
