Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has lambasted the Selangor government's request for more auxiliary police, calling them 'inconsistent' and 'going against the constitution'.

"I am actually surprised that because previously, the state government never helped the police in reducing the crime index in Selangor. But now that the index has actually gone down, they say that they need more auxiliary police," he said at a press conference after chairing the post cabinet meeting in his ministry in Putrajaya.

NONE Calling their request to be going against the constitution, Hishammuddin ( right ) said that the state government is merely prolonging the issue to sensationalise it.

"They will continue doing it, even if it is not legally correct.

"Whether we have enough or not, the crime rate has gone down in Selangor. We have activated the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela), we have activated the civil servants in Bukit Aman and we have activated the General Operations Force (PGA).

"All those initiatives and new and Selangor being the top on the list for the National Key Result Areas (to reduce crime), is our main focus. We have come up with so many efforts including community policing and there was not one time that the Selangor government did anything to help us.

"And they suddenly come up with this request? This seriously casts doubts over their sincerity," he said.

The Selangor MB had previously written to both Hishammuddin as well as the deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, over getting more auxiliary police personnel for the state under the supervision of the Petaling Jaya City Council.

However, his request have been shot down by Hishammuddin, and ridiculed by the mainstream media.

Despite the rejections, the state government announced that they would be sending a third letter to the home ministry over the matter.

To that, Hishammuddin said: "It's still no."

'S'gor gov inconsistent'

He continued firing salvos at the Pakatan-led state government, saying that their state policies have been inconsistent.

NONE And the whirlwind of controversy regarding the appointment of the state secretary Mohamed Khusrin Munawi ( right ) is the best example, according to Hishammuddin.

"They wanted to amend the state constitution in Selangor when they know it won't work. When they failed horribly, they hid behind the excuse of wanting to uphold the Sultan of Selangor and restore his powers.

"But now the state secretary and the MB can sit together at the table. The state government just did things on the fly for the sake of provoking us with their excuses of upholding the royalty.

"What has happened to that? It only shows that they are inconsistent," said Hishammuddin, who is also the Umno vice-president.

Mohamed Khusrin finally took the oath of secrecy in Shah Alam this morning, after a lengthy battle between the state and federal governments over his appointment.

While the resolution in the emergency sitting convened last to amend the state constitution was defeated, the state government has now appeared to have accepted Khusrin appointment, which came directly from the federal government.
