DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke remains firm on resigning as transport minister, saying he will submit his letter to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim after returning from China.
Bernama reported that the Seremban MP, who is accompanying Anwar on a three-day official visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou, said his decision was final.
“The decision has been made. I will submit the resignation letter to the prime minister when I return home,” he told reporters in Hangzhou today.
Earlier, Anwar said he would not rush to decide on the matter, adding that he wanted to hear Loke’s explanation and would advise him to reconsider.
Anti-corruption
The government paid RM1.18 million in rewards to 652 civil servants who reported bribery cases from 2012 to 2025, said MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman (below).
Police personnel made up the largest group of recipients, with 437, followed by Immigration Department officers (64), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency personnel (33), and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry officers (21).

One cited case involved a Perlis police officer who rejected a RM200,000 bribe after police seized 1.8 tonnes of methamphetamine.
For this year’s assessment, 54 civil servants have been nominated over 30 investigations involving attempted bribes totalling RM304,621.
Abd Halim said the reward scheme has been expanded across the public service, especially among procurement officers, to encourage more reporting of corruption.

His mind is made up. No giving in to his principles. For the PM to ask him to reconsider shows he has no respect for Loke's principles. I fail to understand why Anwar has not revealed why he paved the way for Najib's house arrest. With this action he has proven that his principles and commitment to corruption mean nothing when his position is compromised.
Can only say that the whistleblower payments total is pathetic considering the high number of recipients and low total payout, not to mention the long period considered. Consider that: 1. 529 individuals shared only RM 1.18mil or RM 2230 per recipient. Note it is a ringgit for ringgit scheme, so they get exactly the same amount as the bribe exposed. This begs the question: Where are the larger payouts ? 2. Over 13 years only 40 whistleblowers average per year receiving a cash award (and another 10 per year receiving a thank you certificate). That is a puny number in a civil service of more than 1.3 million, negligible really. I would propose that they adopt a sliding scale paying only a percentage for higher exposed bribe amounts so that the government dont need to fear exorbitant payouts. Also where are the civil servant whistleblowers outside PDRM and Kastam, almost nonexistent according this report. I wonder what Madani is doing to improve all this. Walk the talk, Madani, walk the talk.
Wait and see. If Najib doesn’t reach rm50 million, you don’t have to resign. Najib will still be in prison.
