Najib pardon decision: Unity govt relations remain good, Zahid says

Zahid, who is also Umno president, said that in managing government affairs, all parties continue to act professionally, with cabinet decisions being made collectively.
“In terms of personal relations, Alhamdulillah, they remain good so far. As members of the unity government, we will continue to uphold the principles of discipline,” he told a media conference today.
Yesterday, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar granted Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to the payment of a RM50 million fine.
The Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department said the order was decided at the 64th Meeting of the Federal Territories Pardons Board, held at Istana Negara.
Zahid, who is also BN chairperson, said the provisions of the Federal Constitution bind the Pardons Board decision on Najib.
“What was decided by the Pardons Board, and received the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, is a decision bound by several clauses in the Federal Constitution, and His Majesty would certainly have taken into consideration that legal provisions serve as the basis for the pardon decision.
“So, if any party disputes the king’s decision, it means that it is not in line with the provisions enshrined in the Constitution. Umno and BN themselves are of the view that the law must be obeyed. That position is clear, as reflected in statements I made previously,” he added.

Shameless and disgraceful. To them political power is the passport to wealth and status.They don't care a hoot about the country and the people.They don't believe in hard work, meritocracy and competition. They want something for nothing.
There is another thread in this tale: Lim Kit Siang’s commitment to support Anwar as the leader of the post-Mahathir transition. DAP has kept that commitment, through imprisonment, electoral defeats, coalition changes and now government. This loyalty may reflect more than personal trust. DAP may have concluded that, whatever Anwar’s shortcomings, he remains the best available prime minister for moving Malaysia beyond the Mahathir era. That calculation also helps explain DAP’s continued tolerance of Anwar’s partnership with Zahid. The party may see Zahid not as Anwar’s political equal, but as the parliamentary instrument required to keep Anwar in office and prevent a return to a more conservative Malay-Muslim government. Yet loyalty should not become political silence. Supporting Anwar as the best available prime minister does not require treating him as the best possible prime minister. Lim’s promise was presumably intended to advance reform, not merely secure Anwar’s tenure. DAP has honoured its commitment to Anwar; Anwar must now honour the reform expectations that made that commitment meaningful.
The ACT of Power and the ACT of privilege seem reigning. And Justice seem distorted. All you to look is the facts of the case and deal with it as per the law--not to take detour for convenience and favour wherein you have taken the wrong turn. Well you can do it but it is not the ideal and so be it.
