Citing geopolitical considerations, BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition’s formula for the Malacca polls might not necessarily follow models utilised during the previous Johor and Negeri Sembilan elections.
Speaking to reporters in Kuala Lumpur today, Zahid, who is also the deputy prime minister, said any negotiations must take into account the potential benefits and drawbacks of any alliances.

“We must be honest, sincere, and honour the promises we make, not do the opposite after an agreement has been reached,” he said, expressing hope that any possible pacts between parties will also ensure political stability at the national level.
