YOURSAY | PAS sleeping with ‘wife’, dreaming of a ‘mistress’

YOURSAY | ‘Bersatu and PAS have an enviable record of flirting with multiple partners.’

Bersatu-PAS marriage creates 'hybrid option for Malays'

Dr Raman Letchumanan: “I think with Bersatu going into the election with PAS, we can really shake Umno’s Malay stronghold,” said Bersatu Youth exco Harris Idaham Rashid.

So basically, you are saying Bersatu itself has no unique strength but draws its strength from PAS. And both of you are targeting the Malay votes, in particular the Malay strongholds held by Umno.

I really pity the Malays - they are either spoilt for choice or more likely, become the feeding ground for kleptocrats and religious fanatics.

But wait, didn't PAS say their primary aim is to unite the ummah above everything else? So how can Bersatu say PAS will fight against Umno for Malay votes?

Bersatu draws its strength from PAS, but PAS draws its strength from Umno. It is like sleeping with the wife and dreaming of the mistress.

All it needs for a divorce is three SMS messages. No need to retype, just copy and paste. And both Bersatu and PAS have an enviable record of flirting with multiple partners, both legal and illegal.

Everybody thinks the alliances among political parties are cast in stone, especially after the Election Commission (EC) announced the nomination and election dates. But has anyone wondered why the EC is so generous in fixing the nomination date on Nov 5, instead of earlier.

Even the loudmouth Pakatan Harapan supremos would not figure it out. Of course, their thinking capacity is limited and they can't read in between the lines, like their troopers scavenging here. And yet, they want to be our leaders.

Gerard Lourdesamy: Most Malays in the country are moderate centrists. They reject left-wing liberalism and right-wing fanaticism. Historically and culturally, Malays reject betrayal and treachery.

In terms of religion, they believe in moderation and practicality. While they will not publicly question religious leaders and their teachings on Islam, when facing the ballot box, they will in private reject religious fundamentalism and extremism in the mould of Saudi Wahhabism and Afghan Talibanism.

The failures and dysfunction of the Malay unity governments post-Sheraton Move in 2020 will cause the majority of Malays to cast their vote cautiously or to abstain from voting out of disillusionment with their leaders.

BN will have an advantage with traditional Malay voters. Perikatan Nasional (PN), especially Bersatu and PAS, are overestimating their support level among Malay voters.

Harapan is the underdog here. The fence-sitter Malay voters will be the deciding factor. And an unexpected surprise may occur.

GanMu: Bersatu is PAS in different clothes. A vote for Bersatu is a vote for PAS.

I fail to understand why Gerakan is associating itself with PN. It should stand on its own and offer itself, if it manages to garner seats, to collaborate with the winning team.

In comparison to PAS and PN, Umno is a much better option; but in comparison to all of them, the three Harapan parties are the best choice.

Apanama is Back: "I think the marriage between Bersatu and PAS creates a hybrid option for Malays because there are many types of Malay people out there - some are very Islamic, some are more liberal, and some are in the middle of those two types”.

Marriage? Bersatu Youth leader Harris, this is not a marriage at all in the very first place. Bersatu and PAS are a cohabiting couple - they are a couple that lives together in a committed relationship but are not married to each other.

PAS will not 'marry' any party. Pardon my language, you can use the word 'parasite' but it’s better to use ‘cohabiting’. PAS will cohabit and try to live on the 'host' for their perks and benefits. The moment, say, Bersatu could not fulfil its cohabit partner's 'lust' for money, PAS will cohabit with Umno.

PAS is as what Negeri Sembilan Bersatu Youth leader Danni Rais said: "Their mind is just politics, get lots of money..." If PAS could not have what it wants, it will just "tukar partner ikut selera" (change partner according to its mood).

I hope it is very clear now what PAS really wants.

YellowTiger 8858: Before the rakyat vote for PAS, we need to ask this question: Can PAS leaders manage the country?

PAS leaders need to make Malaysia a country that is respected by others, where the rakyat live in prosperity, where there are job opportunities, and where they can bring in investments.

So, think about it, are they leaders who only know how to manage places of worship? Can PAS leaders be as capable as leaders in Singapore, Indonesia or India?

MS: PAS is riding on Bersatu to win as many seats as possible. They cannot do that as a partner with Umno because Umno wanted the juiciest seats to have majority control.

But Bersatu will be wiped out. PAS with substantial seats will return to Umno in the name of Muslim unity. It will have enough bargaining power in the Umno-PAS partnership.

PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang’s principle is to find a vehicle to implement Islamic law and will use whatever means to achieve it.
