The number of flood victims in Sarawak rose to 4,602 as of 4pm from 4,524 as of noon today.
Sarawak State Flood Management Committee Secretariat spokesperson said Samarahan recorded 1,782 evacuees, Serian (1,192), Sibu (597), Mukah (95), Bintulu (648), Limbang (280) and Sarikei (eight).
All the evacuees are housed at 25 relief centres, seven each in Samarahan and Serian, two each in Sibu and Bintulu, three each in Limbang and Mukah while in Sarikei remained only one relief centre.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Education Department said in a statement that 42 schools were closed due to floods and 11 schools were used as relief centres.
A total of 5,380 students, 677 teachers and 249 support staff were affected in the flood-hit areas.
In Sabah, the flood evacuation centre at Dewan Komuniti Kota Marudu was closed at 1.30pm today.
The 236 people comprising 102 families who were sheltered there since yesterday were allowed to return to their respective homes.
The families, from Kampung Kuranji and Kampung Popok Darat, moved to the centre around 3.45pm yesterday.
According to the Civil Defence Force in Sabah, the weather in Kota Marudu is currently cloudy.
