LETTER | Malaysians are quick to fly another country's flag in a show of solidarity.
However, when it comes to our own national pride - the Jalur Gemilang, the same cannot be said.
This photo (below) of a horribly tattered flag of Malaysia was taken this month at an upmarket township in Selangor.

Most of us would have noticed similar disgraceful indifference to our national flag - sometimes even at government premises, mind you.
When it comes to Merdeka celebrations, for example, the government has to remind business premises and homeowners to display the flag. It does not come naturally (voluntarily) as a sign of patriotic pride.
In fact, some media even aired views of citizens claiming that not flying the national flag does not mean that citizens are not patriotic.
Well, how about flying the tattered flags of our beloved nation? How can we remain so indifferent and disrespectful?
We need to review and reappraise this growing disrespect, and indifference or even argue that it is not an issue to be addressed.
