vox populi big thumbnail ‘It is quite disturbing that we still holding to our argument saying that our numbers are okay. Come on, tell the truth. Let's face the problem together.'

On 'Valuecap: Explain how Average Joe benefits'

http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/91852

Dr Lam: The government finds ways to salvage the situation and then there is statement of calmness to say our economy remains strong.

There is no point in covering up. There is nothing wrong in saying our economy is not good.

It is quite disturbing that we still holding to our argument saying that our numbers are okay. Come on, tell the truth. Let's face the problem together.

On Anwar now 'in no hurry' to topple BN

Sam Surendran: Our concern for Sept 16 to happen seems to have come and gone but has it really gone? It all depends on how you see it.

If you expect change to take place in an instant, than we are not being true and honest to reality.

Let's face it folks, change takes time. Sept 16 must be viewed from a big picture point of view.

Change cannot be rushed for if it is then it is not real change. Change must be administered with prudence and wisdom.

Sept 16 was just the beginning of the great change and if we see it that way then we have seen change from the perspective of the big picture. The date personifies the beginning of change.

Given the consideration that we are under the rule of law and have constitutional limits, for change to happen, it must be done within the due processes of law.

Let's stand behind the prospect and promise of change and not be distracted by the procrastination of change which so often deludes our infinite mind.

The change will surely come! A wise man once said, ‘If you are hasty you will surely miss the way!'

Patience my friends. Before any good thing happens, it so often tarries a little longer, for which we need the big picture of change.

Garry Khoo: I think it is time for Anwar to perform his job as opposition leader and start planning to topple the government through the ballot boxes of the next general election.

I tell you DSAI has done a very good job for the rakyat. He helped us to change an incapable leader of Malaysia.

Without him, the rakyat would still be staying inside some well like a frog.

He has not only helped the rakyat but has rung the bell for all politicians to start performing their tasks effectively.

Frankly, with the performance of the five opposition-ruled states so far. I don't think BN will win in the next general election.

Anwar's job will be set a good example in the Pakatan states and with that I'm sure the other states will vote for Pakatan.

On Chua's comeback dogged by tainted past

Dr MM: The election Of Dr Chua So Lek as MCA deputy president reflects poorly on the MCA delegates and shows that MCA is bankrupt of competent delegates who could use their better judgement in selecting a less morally tainted representative.

It is a travesty of politics when a tainted individual is resurrected by dull and vested groups.

These groups are only interested to promote any individual without due diligence.

MCA must set a good moral example to their community and country. MCA will be deemed incompetent by the electorate and may be in deeper dire straits in the next general election when accountability and morality issues are raised.

Lim Keat Hoe: I had regarded the MCA with disdain all these years for failing to stand up for what is right and fair.

So party elections are usually a non-event for me. But Dr Chua's election really churned up some very conflicting emotions.

On the one hand, I agreed with his contention that the sex DVDs were distributed by his political opponents; that what two consenting adults did behind closed doors was none of our business.

That he has been an effective leader seems to be the general consensus but given the public knowledge of his sexual antics, is it suitable for him to hold public office again?

Then, again, perhaps I'm just being too prudish. Haven't we all heard of the sexual escapades of many a minister? So, what's the big deal?

On Khairy: Call for ISA on me 'unwarranted'

Mooshie Mooshie: Khairy Jamaluddin, we know what you are trying to do now. Do not try to hoodwink us by keeping quiet and say something nice every now and then.

We are now satisfied that people like you can change like a chameleon. When in power you acted like a king with everyone at your feet. Now, you are humble.

To let you know, we cannot be fooled by you and your gimmicks. So keep being the ‘wolf' but take off the sheep's clothing.

On Suhakam: Filipino with 'connections' gets Mykad

A Sabahan: The NRD is the worst Sabah department in terms of efficiency. It has created nightmares for many but with the new director, I hope there are chances for this department to improve.

However, why is there no action taken against the previous director who has not been doing his job for years with the NRD?

Stepping down is not good enough - he should be fired for the numerous problems created in the department. Is it not the duty of the PSC to take the appropriate action?

On Zulkifli: We must strengthen Islam

Venki Sankar: For so long as there are religious zealots like him in parliament holding out as our wakil rayat we will never get a clear understanding of Islam and it's precepts.

It is not Islam that needs strengthening but zealots such as him who need to be educated on the universality of all religions practised in this country.

Let us hope that the likes of him will see the light one day.
