PAS Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub led a five-member delegation to the national palace this morning to submit a memorandum to the King.
Administration officer Sofuan Ibrahim accepted the document.
“In view of recent developments concerning the deputy prime minister and his wife, the attorney-general and inspector-general of police, we humbly urge the King to establish a royal commission,” the memorandum read.
“The recent allegations and police reports made against Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, Rosmah Mansor, attorney-general Abdul Ghani Patail and inspector-general of police Musa Hassan reflect the loss of confidence in the executive.”
In view of the fact that the issues are all inter-related, a royal commission should be formed to investigate the matters, it added.
The memorandum also said Najib, Musa and Abdul Ghani should go on leave until investigations are completed.
Salahuddin also filed an urgent motion at the Parliament today for the matter to be debated and for a royal commission to be set up.
Several accusations were aired against the trio last week.
On Tuesday, Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim lodged a police report against Musa and Abdul Ghani in Shah Alam.
In it, he alleged that the duo had fabricated evidence in relation to the ‘black eye’ assault on him while in police custody10 years ago.
Two days later, private investigator P Balasubramaniam made several allegations in a
statutory declaration
specifically linking Najib to Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, who was murdered in 2006.
Barely 24 hours later, Balasubramaniam retracted his allegations in another statutory declaration. Najib and Rosmah have denied any involvement in the Altantuya case.
Balasubramaniam has since gone missing with his wife and children, and his nephew R Kumaresan has filed a missing persons report.
